Okay, so it seems velocity would be too high for ordinary plated ("RMR plated HP 125 grain ").Yes. Rossi 92 w/ 24" oct barrel and Skinner sight. I need to get a taller front sight.

I have a 20" 44mag Rossi, I just went ahead and put a scope on it. Sight problem solved.
Will the Pearson no-drill scope mount not work? The octagon barrels are not scopeable.

People use them with scouting scopes on top eject models. I considered one, but went with the NOE mount instead (I have a round barrel Rossi - and Rossi quit making their mount).Had not seen those before. Looks like they will not really take the weight of a scope on a top eject, no?
I agree^^^^^There's no reason your rifle shouldn't feed SWC's. Make sure you cycle the action like your mad at it and you might want to take it apart and slick it up, or send it to a 'smith to have it don
You are correct, SWC bullets can have a problem feeding in a levergun. That's why I linked to the bullets specifically designed for leverguns. What works in a Marlin 1894 may be different than the OP's Rossi '92. There are also Marlins and then Remlins. It seems well established though that SWC bullets are counter to the general design of a repeater rifle.[
The caveat with those is that the cases will need to be trimmed shorter for the loaded round to fit most guns. Have you found that to be the case in your Rossi? These work best in my Rossi 92 38/357.
