.380 ACP Lot #20180101, new style DPX bullet with cannelure on case:

Opened up two new boxes (of 6 I bought) of DPX in .380. Discovered that about 15% or so of the rounds did not have the bullet seated correctly. Could make a little staircase by arranging the rounds. Some of the bullets actually bulged the walls of the case out below the cannelure.

Seems like the bullet's position also did not survive a single chambering with one round [new round, never previously chambered]. The Barnes ammunition that it was going to replace didn't have that issue. Did Corbon's quality tank in early 2018? Perhaps that's why the ammunition was on sale?

Think that there was a recent change in ownership. https://www.ammoland.com/2018/01/cor-bon-ammunition-sold-new-owners/ and a new supplier for the bullets.

The Pi family is no longer involved in Corbon as of late 2017 and apparently there were some bumps in the transition on shipping products to stores. Barnes bullets are now part of the faltering Remington/Freedom Group/Whatever the name is this week, conglomerate and ended sales to Corbon and it could be why Corbon is having some supply and transition quality issues. http://defense-training.com/2017/corbon/

...and Corbon said??

Haven't had a chance to contact them given the weekend. The kind folks at SGAmmo offered to buy back the product. At least the DPX in 10mm for my 1911 looks good.

Yeah, not terribly impressed with Remington's stuff. Was saddened to see Barnes become a part of that mess. The buy-out by Remington moves them toward the "do not want" category for me, split cases, bullet set issues, etc. all have me not liking all things Remington. Guess I'll be looking at the Federal Premium, Norma, and Hornady lines of lead-free ammunition for rifles. S&B's leadless is terrible, and Lapua's Naturalis line is too blasted expensive.
