I found a .330 single cavity mold

I would think the .330 RB would be a little oversized for the .31 caliber “Colt”. Most use either “0” buckshot or a .320 RB. The .330 RB is designed for the Hege/Siber single shot .34(?) caliber pistol used in International Muzzleloading Competition or shooters interested in very precise manufactured pistols. Mike “OTDP” has one. See the post “New Hege Siber Pistol - look out 10 ring”.

OR hope to find a dealer that still had the five pound box of Hornady “00” Buck dusting away on the shelf, containing about 500 .34 caliber round balls for about $12.00 for a very short period of time. :what:

I had been looking for this Lee mold for a year now. It is no longer made.

The 330 works just fine in both of my 31 cal.pocket models.

I certainly don't mind pouring one ball at a time..

When I did a THR BP forum search yesterday, I found a post indicating that .330 was the preferred ball size that was listed on the Uberti website at the time anyway.

See Post #7 by LEE3370 from 2005:--->>> https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/feeding-the-baby-dragoon.363640/#post-4503838

"When using buckshot in the little .31's, make sure it is not "chilled". Chilled shot is harder and is not easy to load.

I just went to the Uberti website and under the FAQ they list what size balls to use.

What size ball do I use in my revolver?
.31 caliber revolvers use a .330 ball.
.36 caliber revolvers use a .380 ball.
.44 caliber revolvers use a .454 ball."

Yuppp.

I use that .330 in my Remington replica and my Uberti replica.

And I use the .380 in my Uberti 1862 36 cal..
Both of those give me a nice ring.

One would think that Lee's double cavity .319 rb mold at about thee same price would be a better option.

For me, the .330 gives me a more constant shaved ring.

I wasn't worried about the price of the mold. I have the 18 cavity 00 buck (.330) already and prefer the single cavity.
