Goin to the store

It seems that no one else hears the sirens song from the LGS that I do. How odd...I find it very hard to believe that I’m the only one who goes out for groceries but comes back with new to me metal.

Appreciate all the good advice. I never knew that there where 8 different health food stores in this sleepy little town. Conversely there are 10 gun stores.
The problem I have is that I go to the gun store and sometimes come home with groceries.:(
I have a hard time passing all seven places that sell guns on my way home. Some days I’m able to make it, but most often I have to stop in at one.

Sorry to hear about your upcoming battle with the Big C.

My Mother had breast cancer and was only given 6 months to live. She not only survived the surgery and chemo but went on to live another 25 years. We both believe it was her determination and faith in a higher power that caused her to beat the odds. Doctors aren't as smart as they would have us to believe they are.

I agreed with Gunny's recommendation for Ensure, banana and oatmeal cookies. The best thing protein powders do is making your wallet lighter fooling you into thinking you are getting stronger.

Gun Store P.T. is recommended but Gun Shows are the best. At a Gun Show you can handled as many guns as you want and let the positive+ ions transfer from the guns to your body. The more positive+++ ions the better.
Just about all of my health issues over the past 14 years have been related to residual effects from cancer treatments.
But like Steve S. said cancer is a gift of freedom, if you survive the treatments. You will find that those little things that bother you will no longer be important and some things are not worth getting upset about.
Find joy in every day. Hug the ones you love. Make new friends. Enjoy life even on the days that suck.

Hope everything works out for you. The doctors had a friend of mine written off 12 years ago with colon cancer, yet he's still here, doing all the stuff he did before. Went through hell with the chemo and treatments, but he's almost 70 now and has seen 2 grandkids born and will see another one come in the next few weeks that most people never expected him to see. Get your colonoscopies! If he had done them when he was supposed to, starting at 50, he probably could have avoided a lot of misery. His deal convinced me to finally have mine and two polyps were found and renewed. Another one is coming up to make sure the polyps were totally removed.

Know a little about how you feel. Back pain sent me to the doc 3 years ago, turned out to be renal cancer moved to my spine. Stage 4. 3 back surgeries later, and 2 years of Opdivo infusions here I am. Had a surgery in April that removed 3 vertebrae, T6, T7, and T8. Cage on the front, 4 rods and lots of screws in the back. Incredible post surgery pain, but after a week it was less than pre surgery. Started the Opdivo every 2 weeks at first, after a year and a half they went to every 4 weeks. Luckily I have no side effects from the infusion. 6 weeks out I am transitioning from a walker to a cane. Leg strength coming back. Will begin proton radiation therapy next week, not sure how many treatments. After that I will go to outpatient therapy to get my legs back under me. I was just getting my legs back from the first surgery in Feb. 2016 last summer when it came back. This will be the third round of radiation, so they have to be careful with doses.

Sorry to derail the thread with my own issues, to the op and other patients here, hang in there, stay positive and kick cancers a**.

Not at all, I’m taking great relief knowing I’m not alone. Thank you to all who have shared. I lost 90% of my stomach. And I’ve still got chemo coming in 8 weeks.

Well 375 supermag's post # 12 could be a twin to my experience. Stage 4 cancer when found. Years of treatment--Chemo etc. rinse and repeat. Ending with a bone marrow transplant in the early 90's. I was told three different occasions I would probably not make it through the night---HA fooled them. Chemo makes the cancer weak, your mind makes the cancer leave your body then. When I left the care unit for good the lead MD said that I was just too bull headed and stubborn to die. A positive attitude will see you through the crap to be. Best of luck.

It seems the only way I can make it to the grocery and back without adding any iron in the safe is to take only enough cash for the shopping list and stick to it!:p I still will stop at the LGS on the way there or back but without the cash or a card in hand I find it harder to justify having them hold something for a few days "while I find some cash".;)
