When I got it the barrel and cylinder were pitted and the bluing was gone. I did leave some imperfections for character. I know some may say the collectibility is gone but I got to be a shooter not a safe queen.

Nice! I have some touch ups I need to do on a few guns, is the Perma Blue easy to use?

Stay safe.

The Super Blue works better. It’s pretty easy but not very durable.
I nicked a barrel with a punch installing a dovetailed sight (before I got the right stuff to do it :fire:) so I won't need too much coverage. I'll look for the Super Blue on the shelves locally.

Thanks, Stay safe.

Google Van's Instant Blue. Just as easy to use, but in my experience it's more durable, especially if the parts are heated somewhat at the time of application.

Your rebluing looks great! I tried bluing the barrel of a black powder revolver kit but could never get the finish just right. Ended up up having it done by a local gunsmith.

Good job. I used the Super Blue on an old Ithaca shot gun I left in a soft case for too long and rusted. It looks pretty good now and if it needs to be touched up it's easy. Brownell's Oxpho Blue is even easier. I used it on a heavily worn model 10 trade in and it looks much better.

Very nice.

Now how does it shoot?
Shouldn't be any different, if they didn't have to remove the barrel to blue it separately.

I didn’t remove the barrel to blue it. Still have to put a main spring in it, been having light primer strikes.

Light strikes particularly in DA are often a result of someone bending the mainspring and going too far. You MAY be able to rebend it to achieve better results. Work gently in small increments and try it often. Be aware the spring can easily break if you take it too far.

I’m going to order a new spring.

as you wish. I just thought you might be able to salvage your old one, and save a little cost. A new one will need a bit of fitting anyway. Most Colt parts aren't simply "Drop in" replacements
