Just received it today and in all honesty I was a little taken aback by just how small this thing really is. I really thought it was bigger! Compared to the 5.5" sauce pan I was using this thing is tiny!

Will most probably be a couple days before I get to test it out as I have a full schedule today and tomorrow I have to take my brother for a Dr. apt which should take up most of the day. Interested in seeing first hand how the bottom pour works.

I was surprised as well when mine arrived much smaller than I expected but it works great for the price point.

Today I gave the lil pot a test run and here is what I got. This thing melted up the ingots much faster than my old hot plate and got pretty hot. Also had to test out a new used Lee 2 cavity 452-200 SWC mold. The mold seemed to heat up quickly also. First few pours were a mess. Had lead everywhere from the bottom pour. One reason was from trying to hit the sprue hole and the other is I had no clue how fast the mold would fill. Next at first it was taking forever for the sprue puddle to freeze over. So that was my first clue that the lead was too hot. So I turned it down and then it got too cold and the sprue was freezing up hard right away. So I turned it back up a bit and found a sweet spot.

This whole experience was quite different than with my hot plate and ladle. Most everything I test cast today will most likely end up back in the pot as there were a lot on incomplete fills, wrinkles and heavy frosting. All-in-all it was another productive learning experience. After these bullets that I kept out cool I will give them an admiring inspection.
