If one were to want a .40 in a steel (not alloy) frame, what is available today? I’m aware of the Springfield Armory EMP. What others? Not interested in surplus or polymer. Thanks.

Steel-framed double-stack .40's with SAO triggers are nearly all anyone shoots in Limited division in USPSA. So there are a lot of relatively high-end gamer guns in that space. Even if you're not a gamer, they offer outstanding performance and ergonomics. They will be big guns, for the most part, and have absolutely zero consideration given to being able to conceal them. Just as a race car would have zero consideration given to how it handles parking lot speed bumps.

If you're looking for pure shooting enjoyment, this is, IMO, the way to go if you have the cash. It would also give you an outstanding tool for home defense (where size and weight are non-issues). But it probably wouldn't be a super-productive path to explore if you're trying to carry the gun in an IWB holster.

What are you planning to use the gun for?
