We moved recently and all my ammo vanished into thin air. I have searched high and low, opened the boxes marked "shop" and all my ammo cans. No ammo for the '06 to be found. And I am the one that packed all that stuff!

So out of pure desperation, I popped into Sportsman's Warehouse and bought 4 different boxes of ammo to try. 2 of 150 grain bullets and 2 of 180 grainers. Wouldn't you know, 1 of each shot right at an inch for three cold-barrel rounds! The 180 grain Winchester Power Points and the Federal 150 grain Sierra Game Kings. Because my pet load for my Tikka T3 Hunter in .30-06 is the Sierra 150 grain Game King and IMR 4350, I wonder if their load isn't very close to the same velocity as what I've been loading.

Anyway, I feel ready to go now.

Now if I could just find my war bag, cammo gear, rifle sling, hat....! :what:

Tikkas are great rifles from my understanding. Only fondled one in the store. Good luck hunting this year.

Not exactly gun related, but did anyone help you move? If so, you might find your stuff, including your ammo, in the last place you’d expect.
The last time we moved, some buddies from work helped. After 4 or 5 days of not being able to find our coffee pot, I asked everyone in the breakroom if they’d seen it. One of them spoke up and said, “Yeah, I rolled it up in some clothes and put it in one of your dresser drawers.o_O
Yep. There it was.:)

I have accumulated 4 Tikkas over the years, including my Tikka T1x (.22LR) and have been very pleased with them. The T3 Lite .270 Win. puts 5 rounds inside 2-3/4" at 500 meters; the 6.5x55 T3 Hunter is my Hunter class silhouette rifle and puts 5 rounds within 3/4" at 200 meters with 130 grain Bergers, and my .30-06 T3 Hunter has slowly become my hunting rifle of choice. Nice looking, dependable and mostly shoots 1" (and better) at 100 yards with most bullet weights and IMR powders.

I got some work to do,though, to catch up with a shooting buddy. He has 12 different Tikkas he loads for and not a bad one in the bunch. IMHO, for a moderately priced rifle, a guy cannot buy a great deal of improvement with a lot more money.
