Left over AR parts

A2 style pistol grip came with my lower parts kit for my first AR build. Upgraded it to a Magpul K2 grip. Replaced my stock charging handle to an ambidextrous Raptor style charging handle. Got a stripped lower, just because. That's THREE parts towards my next build already. The sickness is real.

Extra Parts!!?? No such thing. They are parts waiting to become rifles. :)

I had a M16A1 grip sitting around my shop a while back. I had picked it up years ago from a Gunsmith that was cleaning out his shop. I got to thinking about used and junk parts. So I started a post about wanting to do a Junkyard build. I got a lot of help from members here on the forum and another with collecting used and unwanted parts.
The buffer tube came from my junk box. I had to use a break cylinder hone to clean up the inside of the tube so that the buffer would not get stuck.
The only new parts on the rifle are the lower, buffer, buffer spring, detentes and detente springs.
The rifle turned out very nice and is a great shooter, and is one of my favorite guns to shoot.

I have enough parts sitting around my shop to build six or seven AR's, with many parts to spare.
I have also sent some parts to other members to help them with their builds. There is no cure for the AR Bug so, all we can do is help to infect others. :)
Very cool. Awesome build. I just got a lil twitchy and am thinking a retro build might be in the works. I just used up alot of spare parts for the build I just did. I love having spare parts around....

I never planned to have even ONE of these little rifles.
I bought a stripped receiver and basic parts kit to assemble during the Immaculation of our Great Community Organizer.
I wound up with a few small parts left over... .

Now I've assembled three very different AR's... .
What happened?

I live in CA so my thoughts were I just want one before things change and I can't have one at all. That turned into like 5 different configurations overnight. Then I decided last year why not put together one for the kid and then I ended up with almost a duplicate copy of his so I changed his up with some anodized parts so the two were easy to distinguish from each other.

It started off I have to be totally featureless because again I live in CA then I discovered the AR maglock and now my featureless rifles can have pistol grips. Then things got crazy I ended up with a big plastic bin full of shark fin grips along with a few other odds and ends. It goes on and on. 5 more stripped lowers on a deal with someone who owed me money etc. I have more complete ARs than people live in my house. Then hey this side charging upper receiver looks kind of neat etc etc. Then hey check out this 24 inch heavy stainless barrel that's on sale for $50

Maybe it is a sickness or something I don't know. I do know one thing though. My cheapo PSA freedumb upper with the polymer simple handguard with iron sights is my go to rifle. I grab it out of the safe every time I take a rifle with me to the range. I would actually rather shoot pistols at close distance than deal with setting up my targets out further with a bunch of idiots at the range that can't be safe.

The problem is that it is so easy and can be rather inexpensive to put together an AR and have several for different intended uses. Good thing most of mine look pretty similar and the wife doesn't know how to open the safe or I would probably hear about it. I'm sure the nagging would sound something like how I complain about her shoe collection.
