I've been offered what I think is a pretty good deal on a Nylon 77, w/10 shot magazine. Seller is asking $120.00. It's in really good condition. Feedback on this would be appreciated. What do you think? Good deal?

Yes, Any Remington Nylon is a collectors item. Make sure you look it over well for cracks in the stock. They do have a tendency to crack, especially at the seam

Without knowing more or seeing it, it is a resounding YES!

I'd press him a bit to see if he doesn't have another mag or two squirreled away somewhere.

And this ^^^^^^ from a guy who really dislikes *Nylon* Remingtons too.:neener:

Todd.

My wife has a GR8 from Brazil and while not as accurate as the Nylon 66s I have had it is not bad...and has some metal trigger parts. I sort of want to mess with it enough to find out why it is not as accurate as the American made gun. As parts inter change I may try a barrel swap or just try different tensions on the barrel yoke.

oh to the best of my knowledge the Brazilians ONLY built the 66 and non of the host of others. I sort of thought the bolt actions were cool with the flat bolt handles and all. Both the single shot and front tube loader bolt guns tempted me back in the day for some reason.

Thanks for the info.

It was my understanding that Remington sold it's tooling to a Brazilian company. They told us that their machinery was worn out when we inquired about why they quit making the 66's. It wasn't that, it was because the guns neve wore out and Remington needed to sell some new guns. We used to do the Customs for Remington shipping their .22 short ammo to Brazil. Go figure, but there was a connection.

CBC as far as I know only made the 66 version of the rifle.

Story goes after DuPont sold off Remington they lost the cheap and easy access to the "plastic".....the CBC versions use a different form of "plastic" but I have not seen or read about any issues with the CBC versions.

For some reason the "other" nylons have not grabbed the attn in the same way the 66 has....personally I think it is only a matter of time before the start to climb in price as well.....I would say if you want one now is the time to get one.

The 76 black is one of the more hard to find versions, but they did not make this cool little guy for very long.

With any of them even the CBC get while the gettin is good.

I have had what was known as the Mohawk 10c since 1975. It was Kmarts version of the 77. I've always had problems with it jamming and not 100% sure why. The factory magazine seems to place the nose of the bullet too high to enter the chamber properly.

My fix way back when was to snip off some coils of the magazine spring. That worked until the seams failed on that original magazine. I've not had much luck modifying the mags I picked up from Midway.
