Anyone rocking a set of Hogue Micarta SBH grips?

https://www.hogueinc.com/super-blackhawk-white-micarta-panels

I'm wanting white simulation ivory for mine, but read of fitment issues with various companies. My gut tells me a big company like Hogue should have a good fit from all of their years of experience and even producing grips for companies like Ruger and Smith.

I'm concerned the white may get stained easily in the field??? Should I go with black???
I just did some quick research and read Micarta is extremely durable. I would rather have the durability.

I read some stories where guys are cracking the white ruger plastic grips easily and can unintentionally find pics of guns for sale or online that have chipped white plastic grips especially around the butt.

Glad you asked, as its reminded me to call Houge.

Ive had a set for about 5 years now, and both panels have cracked on the bottom. Ive been meaning to call Houge and see if that should be going on. I dont think it should, but who knows.

Other than that, and that the price seems to have gone up about $25 (mine were only around $70 if I remember right), I like them. They feel great in my hand and are more pleasant to shoot with than the factory stocks.

ETA: I take it back! :D

What I took a pic of was a set of Houge Polymer Ivory grips. I had a set of the Micarta on another gun that I recently got rid of.

But thanks again for bringing it up, I still have to call Houge about these. :)

Hogue has the right shape, they are thicker and nicely rounded, infinitely better than the thin factory grips and most aftermarkets. Micarta is extremely tough material and the white is not going to stain. Anything that gets on it will wipe off. Fitment is always a crapshoot with any off the shelf grip. This has less to do with the gripmaker and more to do with the firearm manufacturer. There is simply too much variation between individual guns and the aftermarket has to make them to fit them all, not just some.

That said, they are the grips I highly recommend for an off the shelf grip. Their fitment is usually acceptable and they are by far more comfortable.

Something is going on with Hogue and the fit of their grips to the Ruger lineup. I bought grip panels for both my 2019 model NM Vaquero and 2005 model stainless Blackhawk. Two different grip panel sets for the Vaquero (one of them a black micarta) and one rosewood for the BH and all of them have misaligned holes for the positioning pins. I ended up having to hog out the pin holes in the direction they needed to go and fill in the void with epoxy putty. I know buying off the shelf grips isn't like a custom fit or anything but these were bad.

LaneP, that being said if I do buy the Hogues.....I will be sure and buy them direct so if there are problems I can pick up the phone right away.

One thing I like about the other option, the magna-tusk, is almost 100% feedback and customer satisfaction guarantee or your money back. And medallions are available.

NC Ordnance responded to my email right away and seem like a fair company to do business with. They offer a refundable return if the grips don't fit to your liking. They are supposed to be tough solid (not hollow) grips and have the medallions. I also read at a colt forum that one guy says this brand fits extra ordinarily over all other off shelf grips. I may just give them a try. I don't have much to lose but the return shipping if I don't like the fit.

I have set of NC Ordnance faux ivory grips for my Beretta Stampede and while they are solidly built it took some filing and sanding to get them to fit right. I just looked at the Magna-Tusk ivory grips by arizonacustomgrips.com and they look to be pretty decent too.

I have the Hogue white micarta and black micarta. Mine are for the Blackhawk/Single Six grip frame.

I really like them. Look great, feel great. Don't stain easily. I did minor fitting, less than 5 minutes with sand paper.

Here's the white micarta on the 45 convertible,

Same grips on the Single Six,

Same here. I've ordered several sets that were supposed to fit a standard Single Six but didn't. I returned them for credit.

I sent back one set of Bisley Single Six grips along with the original grips to check for fitment, and when they came back the pin holes were right but the contour of the grip didn't even come close to matching the grip frame. I don't want to bash Hogue, because I've had great success with their grips for SIG pistols and 1911s, but there's some kind of miscommunication going on with their Ruger single-action grips.

I have two sets of Arizona Custom Grips that both fit perfectly. I highly recommend them for Ruger single-action revolver grips.
