I've been looking at pictures of Pachmayr grips for my Ruger Super Blackhawk. It's driving me mad. All you see are the side views. Fronstrap and backstrap pics are like unicorns or something. Do the presentation grips cover the frontstrap and backstrap? I had the Hogue mono-puke grip but it never fit my hand or the SBH right. I ordered some Pachmayr Decelerator grips and when I received them I found out they went over the backstrap and fronstrap and were as stable as Margot Kidder.

They're too squishy soft, they move all over making your grip compromised. Being split down the middle on the frontstap is dumb idea too. Does anybody have experience with Pachmayr Gripper grips that are one peice and only cover the frontstrap? How are they?

Does anyone know of any 2 peice rubber grips that are on the harder side that don't cover the backstrap or frontstrap? Grips that cover the frontstrap, being slightly larger than the original grips are ok also. For a gun that has a usually high recoil, has been in production since the mid fifties, and has a sharp square trigger guard you would think that someone would make a grip like I described. This must be why guys start gun accessory companies. Any help would be welcome and thank you in advance!

With the exception of covering the back strap (barely) it sounds like you need a set of Uncle Mikes grips for the SBH. Here's a pic of my 45/70 BFR which uses SBH grips. The Uncle Mikes are on the left side. I found that Hogue grips, wood or rubber, to be way too bulky for me. There is only one problem with Uncle Mikes grips, they are no longer being produced.

You can easily determine if a Pachmayer covers the backstrap two ways, if you're unable to get the right picture:

1) side view, see if the top rear of the grip frame is even with the grips. If it covers the backstrap, it'll be about 1/4" rearward.

2) learn the model names of the various Pachmayer grips. The Decelerator, Gripper and Presentation grips cover the backstrap. Their Professional model does not. ALL of them cover the front strap.
