Well I got to say I love it! In the first 5 minutes of handling and inspecting it’s got a lot of qualities I wasn’t expecting. Cyl locks up tight as bank vault, weight is awesome, trigger is dare I say almost as good as my new king cobra! For 250.00 OTD it’s a steal! If this gun runs with no issues I’d have to say one of the best values in firearms today! Wow. Love the flat black!

I'm glad it meets and exceeds your expectations.
Unfortunately too many people equate a higher cost to a superior product but in many cases it's just not true. A more expensive revolver will probably be more polished and may be even a bit stronger but as you found with your new CA it has great lock up and a good trigger. What more does the average shooter need? I love the early 70s CA Undercover that I have. It has been a great gun. And it didn't cost me a whole weeks paycheck to get it. I have a Bull Dog too that has a very tight lock up and a great trigger. It is from the late 70s or early 80s. I got it new in box unfired about a Year ago. I still haven't fired it yet, just can't bring myself to do it.

"What more does the average shooter need?"

Agreed! None of my other revolvers have as a good a trigger as my very best S&W's...

But I have some nice Charters and Rossis and Taurii that have very good triggers and go bang every time.

In fully honesty, the DAO Undercover is the best shooting .38 featherweight gun I have ever owned. Shoot it better than an LCR. Shoot it better than a 642. It's compact and weighs next to nothing, but my is a laser beam with ARX ammo. I bought mine because I was down a pocket revolver and didn't want to go the Ruger/Smith road again.

I think it'll get you by just fine.
I think in spite of the slight crudeness of the fit and finish of many Charter products, the action of their Bulldog line and its variations has a super nice balance of flow and stability.. I really like it way better than my Dan Wesson 15 which would be considered quality by contrast to the Bulldog's "budget" reputation. Charters are by no means rugged or polished guns, but they really are well designed.

I just strapped up with my new undercover and headed out the door for the first time. Wow. 1/2 the weight of my full size 1911 I’m used to carrying! I do not feel under armed! :)

Charter 38spl Aluminum frame
Charter 38spl Police 6 shot
Charter 44spl Boomer
Charter 357mag 4 inch barrel
Charter Bulldog 44spl
All light , all are great revolvers

I have the exact same model as your 357 (2nd from bottom), but with a 6" barrel. I occasionally CC it with a fully enclosed black nylon OWB holster and because its so slim it actually covers up pretty well unless I'n in a tshirt and gym shorts. Its more of an HD and light trail gun though. Its always been a pleasure to shoot 357 trhough it even 1-handed, with 158gr loads. With any 38sp +P its an accurate pussycat for offhanded shooting. That long unshrouded barrel and light frame make a real sweet spot together. 2020-02-21 08.50.17.jpg

My Charter Arms 357 with a 4" barrel has been with me for a very long time. The only "problem" I ever had was that the extractor rod would unscrew after a number of shots so one day I unscrewed it completely out, placed some locktite on the threads & replaced it, problem solved.
This little gun has been with me on many hunts & at the range it has proven accurate & very manageable even with hot 357 Magnum (125 grain JHP) ammo.
I'm hoping that CA comes out with a 44 Magnum 01010044.JPG DA revolver (some say wishful thinking) & if or when they do I'm getting one.

I bought mine used, it's extremely accurate in SA mode. The only issue I've had is the screw on the firing pin plate came loose, preventing the cylinder from turning. I fixed with some locktite and haven't had an issue since.

I know lol. I’m trying to show some grace and let them work out the kinks. If I had bought the CA first I dunno if I would have bought something fancy. That is the way my chips fell. I’m a very happy and blessed guy through all of this.

Just an fyi. While shopping for a plinker snubnose revolver in 22, the charter arms hit my radar. Got one but am wanting different grips. Apparently, says customer service, all charter arms revolvers use the same grips.

Stopped at Palmetto Armory in Charleston SC yesterday. I was disappointed that they didn't have any Charter Arms revolvers in the store. This post has sparked my interest in them.
How would you compare the quality of Charter Arms to Taurus and Rock Islands Arms revolvers?

I would rate the Charter arms higher in quality than Taurus and Rock Island. That said, all brands make trips back for factory repairs these days. I would purchase based on which one had the features I want. For example, if I want the smallest 6 shot 38 for concealed carry, the Taurus 856 would be at to top of my list.

For me, the most significant factor in favor of Charter Arms today is that they are sincerely committed to customer service.

I sent an email to nick Ecker telling him that I wa happy with my gun and what company can you talk directly with the top guy? Not many. He seems like a very nice man. Talking with me even on a late Saturday afternoon. The more I carry this undercover the more I think I’m not going anywhere without it!

Glad to hear you are happy thus far...!

It is a nice little 16 ounce companion, isn’t it...?

Looking forward to the report of how she does throwing lead down range.
