Sound of Madness Shinedown

Yeah, I get it you're an outcast
Always under attack always coming in last
Bringing up the past no one owes you anything
I think you need a shotgun blast a kick in the ***
So paranoid
Watch your back!

Me very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt
Shoots as fast as lightnin' but it loads a might slow
It loads a might slow, and soon I found out
It'll get you into trouble but it can't get you out
So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45
Called a peacemaker but I never knew why
I never knew why, I didn't understand
Mama says the pistol is the devil's right hand

---The Devil's Right hand, by Steve Earle

We fired our cannon til the barrel melted down,,,
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.

We filled his with cannon balls and powdered his behind,,,
When we set the powder off the gator lost his mind.

This song (click here please) came out when I was a kid,,,
My old maid great aunt would howl with laughter every time she heard this verse on the radio.

We're starting to get some repeats (not that they're not songs worthy of a second mention) so it appears perhaps some have not read attentively through 14 pages?

“Bubba shot the jukebox” - Mark Chesnutt

Went to his truck and got a forty five
Bubba shot the juke box last night

Bubba ain't never been accused of being mentality stable
So we did not draw an easy breathe
Until he laid that colt on the table

Just heard it on YouTube. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers , “Pretty Little One”.

I said mister, I'm no fool
My daddy raised me country cool.
I think my papa knows enough
Guys like you who think they're tough
Read them easy as ABC
That's when he gave this gun to me
Ever since your truck arrived, my hand's been on this forty-five

Ryan Shaw - Do the 45 (Radio Edit) Lyrics

Do the 45

45, Yeah, do the 45
45, Yeah, do the 45
Now you heard about the shotgun
how bad its gonna be
I got news for you baby
just listen to me
You're 20 and you're whining
like all the rest
But I got my 45
and I create a big mess
45, Yeah, do the 45
45, Yeah, do the 45
Well here comes little sister
she's twistin' up a storm
She's doing the 38
and she's waving her arms
Well come on now girl
and dance with me
I got my 45
and I'm as bad as I can be
OOOHH
Now don't you disturb me
looking so dumb
Act like Jesse James
and have you some fun
Everybody's dancing
and moving all around
They've got their 45
and that's the best in town
45, Yeah, do the 45
45, Yeah, do the 45
Come on now girl
Do the 45
Twist up a storm baby
Do the 45
Whining and twining
Do the 45
Hey hey hey
45, Yeah, do the 45
45, Yeah, do the 45

James McMurtry - Choctaw Bingo (Live) Lyrics

…..and he stopped off in Tuska
At the pop knife and gun place
Bought a SKS rifle
And a couple full cases of that
Steel core ammo
With the
Berdan primers
From some
East bloc nation
That no longer needs em
And a desert eagle
That's one
Great big old pistol
I mean fifty caliber
Made by
Bad-ass Hebrews
And some
Surplus tracers for that old BAR
Of Slaton's
As soon as it gets dark
Were gonna
Have us a time
Were gonna
Have us a
Time
Have us a time

If this is previously posted, please delete or forgive ...but I enjoyed this, like a full three minute movie, brought to our attention by a relative who remembered when the song and movie were first popular back in 1962. He said the movie sure sold a ton of toy pistols and cowboy rigs ...couldn't keep them in stock at his local toy store. Today the Colt Peacemaker is one of his first to shoot range guns.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

When Liberty Valance rode to town
The women folk would hide, they'd hide
When Liberty Valance walked around
The men would step aside

Because the point of a gun
Was the only law that Liberty understood
When it came to shootin' straight and fast
He was mighty good

From out of the East a stranger came
A law book in his hand, a man
The kind of a man the West would need
To tame a troubled land

'Cause the point of a gun
Was the only law that Liberty understood
When it came to shootin' straight and fast
He was mighty good

Many a man would face his gun and many a man would fall
The man who shot Liberty Valance
He shot Liberty Valance
He was the bravest of them all

The love of a girl can make a man
Stay on when he should go, stay on
Just trying to build a peaceful life
Where love is free to grow

But the point of a gun
Was the only law that Liberty understood
When the final showdown came at last
A law book was no good

Alone and afraid she prayed that he'd
Return that fateful night, ah, that night
When nothing she said could keep her man
From going out to fight

From the moment a girl gets to be full grown
The very first thing she learns
When two men go out to face each other
Only one returns

Everyone heard two shots ring out
One shot made Liberty fall
The man who shot Liberty Valance
He shot Liberty Valance
He was the bravest of them all

Snowmobile Song
Song by Stompin' Tom Connors

It's Wintertime and the weather's fine
The snow on the woods and fields when I reveal... my snowmobile
Thrill by thrill by golly n' hill
Baby it'll make ya feel like an outdoor meal...
On a snowmobile
-Up
Listen to the sound when the belts go round '
When the winter carnival's here...
And oh what fun at the crack of the gun
When the whole gang disappears...
Verse
The race is on from the bush to the pond
And back where the judges's feel you've won their seal...
For the snowmobile
You've won their seal... for the snowmobile

Where skier's ski, and skater's pee and snowshoes lend appeal
Like a bogie wheel, ... On a snowmobile
We tip the glass to the northern lass for she won't let ya kneel
She'd rather squeal -...on a snowmobile
-Up-
You're off to the town where the word goes round
It's winter carnival time
In goggles, boots, and a snowproof suit Your sweethearts on your mind
Ya win the race and you see her face and you know that she must feel
You've got a real... good snowmobile- repeat

Now down the street U can hear the beat & the clickin of the dancer's heel
When the fiddler's peel... off a ragtime reel
You dance and tear with an "I don't care
On the way back home you'll wheel-over hill and field -On a snowmobile
Up-
Through the golden glow on powdered snow
When the moon comes rolling along
On a homeward trail U can hear the wail of the whole gang singing a song.

If tomorrow's clear with fishin gear
We'll head for a lake trout meal With a rod and a reel-and a snowmobile
Life can be real with a snowmobile There ain't no deal like a snowmobile

Gun Street Girl
Song by Tom Waits

One, two, three
Falling James in the Tahoe mud
Stick around to tell us all a tale
Well, he fell in love with a Gun Street girl
And now he's dancing in the Birmingham jail
Dancing in the Birmingham jail

He took a hundred dollars off a slaughterhouse Joe
Brought a brand new Michigan twenty-gauge
He got all liquored up on that road house corn
Blew a hole in the hood of a yellow Corvette
A hole in the hood of a yellow Corvette

He bought a second-hand Nova from a Cuban Chinese
And dyed his hair in the bathroom of a Texaco
With a pawnshop radio, quarter past four
He left for Waukegan at the slamming of the door
Left for Waukegan at the slamming of the door

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

He's sitting in a sycamore in St. John's wood
Soaking day-old bread in kerosene
Well, he was blue as a robin's egg and brown as a hog
He's staying out of circulation till the dogs get tired
Out of circulation till the dogs get tired

Shadow fixed the toilet with an old trombone
He never get up in the morning on a Saturday
Sitting by the Erie with a bull-whipped dog
Telling everyone he saw, "they went that-a-way, boys"
Telling everyone he saw, "they went that-a-way"

Now the rain's like gravel on an old tin roof
And the Burlington Northern pulling out of the world
Now a head full of bourbon and a dream in the straw
And a Gun Street girl was the cause of it all
A Gun Street girl was the cause of it all

Well, he's riding in the shadow by the St. Joe ridge
Hearing the click-clack tapping of a blind man's cane
He was pulling into Baker on a New Year's Eve
One eye on a pistol and the other on the door
One eye on a pistol and the other on the door

Miss Charlotte took her satchel down to King Fish Row
Smuggled in a brand new pair of alligator shoes
With her fireman's raincoat and her long yellow hair
Well, they tied her to a tree with a skinny millionaire
Tied her to a tree with a skinny millionaire

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

Banging on the table with an old tin cup
Sing I'll never kiss a Gun Street girl again
Never kiss a Gun Street girl again
I'll never kiss a Gun Street girl again

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

"Happiness - is a warm gun..."

Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun, mama
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm

Because happiness is a warm gun, mama
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is
Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun
Well, don't you know that happiness is a warm gun, mama?

Smugglers' Blues
Song by Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh

There's trouble on the street tonight
I can feel it in my bones
I had a premonition
That he should not go alone
I knew the gun was loaded
But i didn't think he'd kill
Ev'rything exploded and the
Blood began to spill
So baby here's your ticket
Put the suitcase in your hand
Here's a little money now
Do it just the way we planned
You be cool for twenty hours
And i'll pay you twenty grand
I'm sorry it went down like this
Someone had to lose
It's the nature of the bus'ness
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
The sailors and the pilots
The soldiers and the law
The payoffs and the ripoffs
And the things nobody saw
No matter if it's heroin, cocaine or hash
You've got to carry weapons
Cause you always carry cash
Thre's lots of shady characters
Lots of dirty deals
Ev'ry name's an alias
In case somebody squeals
It's the lure of easy money
It's gotta very strong appeal
Perhaps you'd understand it better
Standin in my shoes
It's the ultimate enticement
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues
See it in the headlines
You hear it ev'ry day
They say they're gonna stop it
But it doesn't go away
They move it through miami
Sell it in l.a.
They hide it up in telluride
I mean it's here to stay
It's propping up the governments
Of columbia and peru
You ask any d.e.a. man
He'll say there's nothin we can do
From the office of the president
Right down to me and you
Me and you
It's a losing proposition
But one you can't refuse
It's the politics of contraband
It's the smuggler's blues
Smuggler's blues

Eighteen With a Bullet
Song by Pete Wingfield

I'm eighteen with a bullet
Got my finger on the trigger, I'm gonna pull it
I'm picked to click now
I'm a son-of-a-gun

So hold it right there little girl, little girl
We're gonna have big fun

I may be an oldie, but I'm a goodie, too
I'll last forever and I'll be good to you
Oh, yes I will

I'm eighteen with a bullet
Got my finger on the trigger, I'm gonna pull it
I'm a super-soul sure-shot, yeah
I'm a national breakout
So let me check your playlist, mama
Huh, c'mon let's make out

I'm high on the chart
I'm tip for the top
But till I'm in your heart
I ain't never gonna stop
Never, never baby

We got a smash double-header
If we only stay together
Talkin' 'bout you
Talkin' 'bout me

I'm eighteen with a bullet
Got my finger on the trigger, I'm gonna pull it
Yes I will

Be my A-side, baby, be beside me
Right now, right now I'm a single
But pretty soon you'll see
We'll have a hit first time

And won't be long we'll find
That we're raising a whole L.P.
Woo-hoo

You know I'm eighteen, woo-hoo, with a bullet
Yes I am, baby
I got my finger right there on the trigger
I'm gonna pull it, pull it, pull it
You better start makin' plans, baby

This old house is too small, now, now, now
I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
(Shoop shoop shoop shoop, be doo be doo doo...)

Heard on radio yesterday.
