In 223 I can’t load a max charge of Varget or IMR4895 because the powder overflows the case. Surely I’m not the only one this happens to?

What brand of brass are you using? Are you duplicating the recipe in the manual down to the components they used? Some cases have more capacity than others. Have you chronographed the loads as you approached the max?

I’ve loaded a lot of .223 using Varget and have only occasionally had to use a drop funnel to be able to tap the powder down into the case.

I don't use those powders in 223 but i think you better recheck your scale or load data

You did not mention which bullet your using. I've loaded up to max and a little over with Varget and 69gr SMK. This is considered a compressed charge, charge to the base of the neck. A little crunching but not bad considering some I've loaded over the years.

Did you workup to this max load?
This is a must for some powders are very temperamental at the top end. Bad things can happen when you go over that fine edge.

Hogden sight lists 26.7 gr imr 4895 as Max with 50 gr sp bullet. I've worked up to that charge with several cases, some require tapping the case with powder funnel. Most cases it fills to the top of case neck.
