Since Spring break came early this year I figured I'd head out to the sticks and sling a little lead.

First up was my Henry big boy 357 mag. I was shooting about 150 yards offhand and ringing steel more often than not. That's one sweet shooting gun.

Then came my new to me Ruger Blackhawk 357. I was just messing around seeing how quickly I could get hits from the draw. Today I did pretty well with that.

Last but not least, my super blackhawk. I think I'm finally coming around to being able to make hits with this one. I've been working on ironing out my flinch and have come a long way. Love this gun.

Great day to take 3 of my favorites out.

As I noted in another thread, I have been shooting for 60 years and I still have to consciously focus to avoid jerking the trigger. I love cowboy action shooting but with its emphasis on speed it’s probably not the best venue for perfecting a trigger squeeze.

I admire anyone who admits they flinch sometimes (I do too) and who is trying to eliminate it (I am too).

Hang in there my brother!

Sounds like a great time.

I agree, my Henry 357 is a really nice shooter, and quite accurate. I was shooting at a left over clay pigeon someone had left behind on a wooden post about 300 yards away. My eyes are nothing special so that orange disk was mighty small. After a few shots I managed to knock it over. I think I hit the post and not the clay, but at that distance, with iron sights, and my eyes, I was pretty happy.

With a spotter and an 8" steel plate at a little less than 300 it was pretty consistent. It's one of my most accurate guns for sure.
