Hey all.

I've been reading plenty on this site for a while now. Thought I best register and contribute a little.
I've started a YouTube Channel that shows a bit of action on how we control the Hogs in Australia. Would love it if you guys and gals checked it out.

Watch "Wild Pigs. Boars. Eradication using. Spotter Plane. Benelli M2" on YouTube

I like the giant tub of shells.

In the states they federal govt uses aerial gunning to control predators. Typically in small prop planes using a shotgun. I recently flew in a 1960s Piper Cub and was amazed how low and slow we could fly.

In the southern US hogs are very common. Texas seems to have the worst of it. I think they like the revenue from hog hunting and don’t truly want them eradicated.

In Missouri the state has recently banned hunting them on public land and 100% of control effort is aerial gunning and trapping by the govt. I’m interested to see how it pans out. I do not want any hogs north of the Missouri river. There is too much $ in corn up here.

Haha... yeah we normally empty that tub pretty fast.

I've seen some of the chopper shooting in Texas on you tube. Very similar to over here. I also do many Chopper culls as a private shooter using AR10's in Australia. It's expensive so using the spotter plane and shooting them from the ground in the cheaper option. Some areas the chopper is the only option.

I only purchased a Gopro 2 weeks ago so what I've put on YouTube is my first attempt. If people like it I'll add a few more as I go. And hopefully the footage improves.

Between Contract shooters, farmers, and recreational hunting the hog numbers are kept in check over here. They never seem to eradicate them from any area's. As much as they try. Many people wouldn't want to see them fully eradicated either for obvious reasons.

Thanks for your feedback HB

Well that was a blast, but I gots to know was that a War time or Post War Fieseler Storch you guys were using???

What type of shells were you using???

Thanks Indy.

Its a WWII 3/4 scale replica that my brother owns. He's part of a historical society group.

We have tried many different Buck shot loads for pigs and our favorite are. Eley Alphamax 36GR AAA shot. Which surprises most people. Most expect bigger shot. Those 36GR shells have 45 pellets.

You know... you guys really added a real touch of class with that plane to a Pig Hunt..

That was a blast to watch! No pun at all. And the no-nonsense music adds the correct atmosphere.

You guys have developed the first, true Australian Blitzkrieg (tactical aircraft coordinated with Armored vehicles)!
This observation was made Before I expanded the screen to recognize the WW2 German Storch (stork) FAC/forward air controller aircraft!

What a mix of tactical systems.

If it weren't such a damned long plane ride, I would love to visit your country.

Glad you enjoyed it Ignition!

Blitzkrieg is probably a good description. Especially when you have a close look at that plane.

Msg me on here or YouTube if your ever coming over this way. Be fun to have someone from the USA come along with us.

A few years ago I use to run Water Buffalo Safaris. I have some footage of that I need to put up as well when I get time.

Welcome aboard! Where are you located down there? I've spent a fair amount of time in W.A. -- mostly Fremantle, Perth and a couple great vacations on Scarborough Beach. Been to Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart Tasmania ... but love W.A. Left my heart there once, too (ah, she was a sweetheart). Done a little bit o' fishing, but would love to see what some of the hunting is like down there.

Thanks Old Dog,
Plenty of great places in WA. Anywhere on the Beach over there is nice.
I'm grew up in Western NSW. I lived in Northern Territory for 7 years which is probably one of the best places in the world to live if you like hunting and fishing.
I'm surprised that lady didn't do to the states with you. Australian ladys seem to have a fascination with Americans. My wife jokes about moving there if we part ways.

Crap, why did you not post this first and years ago when I was a lot less ugly. Now thats some info I could have really used back in my misspent youth... :)

Hahaha.. It's never too late to have crack Indy!

With everyone locked up at home over here with this dam Virus. Bored getting on each others nerves. I reckon there might be plenty of single ladys soon.

Northern Territory: The YouTube video of the guy walking backwards, holding his fishing pole as the Crocodile advances, wanting his Barramundi fish is funny.
I don't know the video title.

At the start you can barely see the croc's long, smooth ripple as it approaches underwater (many victims never detect this), and while the croc slowly walks from the water towards the young fisherman, his mate keeps yelling "Jimmy, let it (the pole) go!", or such.

Wow, what a video! At least the Aussies know to Never stand ankle-deep, or right next to the water. *I now must spell the word "gun", to meet the 'demanding' conditions of this website.
"Fish obsession" or "fish panic" don't count. Post-fishing "Pahkie-Clips" (i.e. used in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) might also be prohibited

Can't say I've seen that one Ignition.
I've had a few fun times with the odd croc myself. I accidentally run over one on a quad bike once. He was camped in some long grass along a river. All but sent me flying. I quite like them... adds a sense of adventure.

That is definitely some exciting shooting going on there , I always wanted to see Australia, now your showing me the pig hunting, and about the women , it appears to be a mans paradise.......thanks Aussiehunter
Not to mention the beer too.............Take care

Serious Buckshot hunters I know use #1. They say it is the best compromise for pellet count and pellet size. For hog culling, I wouldn’t hesitate to use #4.

Pack your bags and visit the US. Every one of us wants to buy you a Foster's or two. Over a cold brew you can explain why the British and Aussies spell color and neighbor and many others differently! :)
I also think pharmacy should be spelled farmacy!
We don't have the pedestrian dangers here in the states like you have down under. We don't have funnel web spiders or crocodiles to dodge. Just Corona19. Just the same I'd like to have the bankroll necessary to visit Australia.

Total recoil, we’ll buy him Victoria Bitters (VB, in the vernacular). Fosters isn’t real popular over there. No worries, though. My shout!

Texas has plenty crocs too, in addition to pigs. Not as big as the salties in OZ, to be sure, but we had a bunch of them drown in downtown houston when the last hurricane came through.

We hunt pigs from planes too. Even hot air balloons, I think. Officially, there is no season or limit. They are terrible pests and the state encourages eradication using most means available (no poison).

i worked many years on some LNG work on Curtis Island in QLD. My company also did a lot of work in Darwin on the other side. It amazes me that most Americans forget how big Australia actually is. Scaled correctly, Australia is roughly the size of the continental US when laid over it on a map. That’s damn big.

Thanks Beach Bum,
Anyone from the USA is more than welcome buddy. Come on over!!
Pig Hunting is probably the most common hunting over here. There's also plenty of opportunity for Deer and Water Buffalo. But access to them isn't as easy unless you know people here. There's plenty of paid hunts available though.

Haha.. yeah mate I don't think I can make much sense of the British spelling either. More than happy to have a few beers and try work it out though.

As for all the stuff that bites over here, spiders, snakes, jellyfish, crocs, etc...... I think they add to the adventure and what makes me love home even more.

Cheers Sovbloc, I can't turn it down when you're shouting. I'll get you onto something better than VB. There's plenty to choose from.

Hot Air Balloon shooting sounds like the go. Semi Auto Rifle... would be a nice stable platform in a Balloon. The government uses a lot of poison over here for Pigs, Deer, Dogs, and Fox's. I'm personally not a fan of it as its not all that humane. But I'm biased as I like to hunt and shoot.

You're right, Australia is a bloody big Country with a relatively small population. Most people are in the few major citys on the coast. So it's great if you like wide open spaces all to yourself like I do. And most of the hunting here is about reducing numbers so theres no bag limits on anything here.

I've heard of Curtis Island. Can't say I know much about it though. Would have been a good experience working over here for a while I imagine.

It was, for a long time. Curtis Island is an island about 45 mins by boat from a place called Gladstone. Coal town. We tripled the population when we were there. Made regular residents mad, but also made them rich for a time.

Do they allow feral camel hunting in the empty?

I've been to Gladstone. It wouldn't be one of my preferred places I have to admit. Nth and Sth of there is nice.

Yeah Camel's are pretty much a free for all. On private property you still need permission but most would be more than happy for someone to cull a few. The government does arieal culls on them every so often and they shoot thousands of them within days. They have talked about trying to set up a meat works and try sort a market for there meat.
