I'd say those tool marks won't affect function. At most, they'll hold dirt more than a clean cut surface, but I'd load that gun and shoot, shoot, shoot it.

You have to be careful with ammo for the .17. It’s a whole lot faster and flatter shooting, but it packs a hellacious wallop for what it is. Shots on squirrels need to be limited to head shots, and not while using ballistic tips which essentially grenade inside of a squirrel. Body shots with a .17 will not leave much meat... and if using the TNT rounds they won’t leave much squirrel.

I have found when mounting a scope on CZs they tend to be very high with CZ rings....you can shoot them but they really never are in the sweet spot for fit....
I like the 22 mag for just a bit more reach and horsepower.....and the 17 really blows up squirrels pretty good if you are going to eat them....

I like the grain of the wood in the butt and through the pistol grip. It appears quite strong, even though not fancy.

You should get some plug (headless) screws to fill the holes.
