I have a certificate for a CZ firearm.

I'm considering a rimfire........maybe.

I have several .22 LR's already, so I am somewhat reluctant to use the certificate on another one............BUT....

What about a .22 magnum?

Or a .17 HMR ?

What would be the advantages of either each? Would they be enough to warrnat one over a .22 LR?

Or should I look at the CZ's in .223 caliber instead?

Thanks, I appreciate your input!

Probably both of those. thought of putting together a "sniper rifle" for the wife to introduce her to a painless way to get into long range accuracy.

As a side note, I noticed during the ammo shortage that .17 HMR was always on the shelf, for whatever that's worth.. Also, it ain't a cheap rimfire cartridge.

Stupid question, is it a certificate for any CZ gun or is it in a particular range. I'm thinking get a free spendy one, sell, buy medium grade + ammo

I have a 17hmr cz453. It is a beautiful and accurate rifle. Every time i buy ammo i wish i would have gotten a 22lr. For the short range target shooting i do, i don't feel there is a big enough difference between the rounds to justify the extra cost. I would like to trade it for a 22lr cz. The next smallest caliber i'd get is .223 for an accurate soft shooting mid range rifle. I think you should get a .223 if you can afford the ammo.

There are many to choose from.

Perhaps one of the 550s. I think these are some of the finest rifles in the world.

Good luck.

I have been studying the 17 hmr idea, but am starting to lean more towards the 22 mag instead. Already have 2 CZ 22lr and a CZ .204.

i would immediately use it for a 452FS or a 550FS in 6.5x55mm

can you tell i really like the look of full length stocks?

i love the .22lr, but i understand that the 17 HMR just buries the .22 WMR as far as accuracy is concerned

Inquiring minds want to know - how does one get a certificate for a CZ rifle?

Given that I desperatly want a 453 Varmint in 22lr that is what I'd get. Next up would be a 452 Lux in 22lr. Then a couple 22lr 452 Scouts (one in pink) for the kids. After that, any 550. After that, any 527. Then there's the pistols. So many choices, so little money.

I won the certificate at a match. (random draw) It is for a CZ 75-B, but they told me that I could apply the retail amount (currently $615) towards any gun they have.

I don't care for CZ handguns and don't want to pay the difference for a Dan Wesson 1911.

I can either use it towards a rifle I "need" or would at least use, or just get the 75 B then sell it and use the money towards something else.

But I find myself wanting to use it towards something CZ, providing I can find something that will be of actual use to me.

I had thought about the .22 magnum, but don't know when or why I'd need the extra power it provides over a .22 LR.

The .17 HMR's long range accuracy is what makes me consider it, but it'd probably be strictly a fun gun that costs a lot to shoot !

I also seem drawn to the Carbine in .223 for some reason, but I don't know when I'd use that over an AR

Nobody can tell you want you want or would like except you.

But I like this one.

Congratulations on a nice prize, BTW.

I have your answer. The new CZ455, available in 22lr, but a barrel swap for 22Mag and 17HMR can be done eaiser than then 10/22, according to what I was told by CZ-USA. They are quite excited about it. Brand new for this year.
Congrats on the certificate - if I personally were to buy a CZ rifle it would be a CZ 527 in 7.62x39mm, but that's because I handload that caliber.

I have several .22 LR's already, so I am somewhat reluctant to use the certificate on another one............BUT....

Same here ........."But" after owning a CZ 452 American .22 LR for a little over a year I will have to say it is the one that gets shot and enjoyed the most hands down! I don't just think that I happened to stumble on to a "Good" one either; there are too many other owners out there saying the same thing as me. Best wishes with whatever CZ you go with!

i'll just mention that the 527 (.223) isn't as graceful as either the 452 or the 550...the mag is just "lumpy"

I have a number of CZ .22s. Terrific rifles, though I admit to not shooting much rifle lately.

Nonetheless, rather than getting another rimfire, I've been lusting for a 527 American .223. Yeah, the mag seems lumpy, but the CZ website lists a new "M1" variant, with a flush-fit mag. My local dealer tells me they haven't seen one yet, but I'm holding out for one of these.

You say the intended use is plinking, hunting and introducing the wife to long range sniping. For those uses, the best cartridge is .22 LR. It's cheap, good for all small game hunting, and will allow you to do "long range sniping" on a 100 to 200 yard range.

CZ offers a number of excellent rifles in it's line. It's just a simple matter of selecting the right one for you. ;)
