Tried to run the G42 (.380 ACP) with a 9mm Gemtech suppressor and Alpha Wolf threaded barrel. Total failure to cycle. Could not get two consecutive shots.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix or another barrel to try?
Would really appreciate any suggestions.

Hotter ammo or weaker recoil spring would probably be your best bet. I’ll be watching to see what others have to say.

I had an aftermarket spring in my Glock 17 when I first got my suppressor and it had hiccups every once in a while. I switched back to the original and now can run it with some light reload.

Reddog: thanks for your suggestions.
I read or heard something about the barrel being so thin that there is no shoulder at the end of the thread and therefore the barrel goes in too far and the end of the can sees no shoulder to bump up on. If someone makes an adapter (1/2x28) X (1/2x28) but with thicker material that would leave a shoulder it may fix the problem.

Second hotter ammo. I reload .380 for my Glock 42 and I had to go to the top end to get it function reliably without a suppressor.

A can doesn't "bump" up against anything while in use. Your problem likely has more to do with the ammo you were shooting or the action of the gun itself (although that's more unlikely in this particular instance).

Make sure your booster piston is moving freely. I like NAPA Sil-glide brake caliper lube as a piston lubricant.

I've never played with a G42 suppressed, but made adapters for my P3AT and Diamondback DB .380 which are both smaller and lighter. They require a very firm grip, but they run fine with both my boostered full size Phoenix IX and my direct thread Canine mini can.

I have the exact same set up, G42 with Alpha Wolf barrel. I tried one shot through this set up along with my Thompson Machine Poseidon but it didn’t cycle.

Dan,
Did you ever try to contact Alpha Wolf for their comments? I'm going to try that this week or next. I spoke to Gemtech and regretfully they were of no help.
Thanks for your response.

I never did contact them. It’s no fault of the barrel. I figured I’m pushing that little gun beyond what it was designed for in the first place. Especially when using a suppressor with no booster like the Poseidon.

I have other suppressed .380 pistols that never fail to cycle like the CZ82 and Beretta 85 so I didn’t really pursue the suppressed Glock 42 very far.

The 42 barely cycles 380 anyway. Adding a can is asking for problems. I'd either try cutting coils off the recoil spring, or exceed max pressure loads. Theoretically it could be done, since the modern delayed blowback Glock is a whole different animal than that a Colt 1903 pistol and factory 380 is designed to be safe in both. But you're taking you fingers and eyes into a risky place with that idea. I sold my 42 in favor of a 43 rather than become a one eyed 8 fingered reloading pioneer.
