I have a gemtech GM9 suppressor that is rated for 9MM and 300 BLK subsonic. I recently bought a bolt action rifle in 308 win that has a threaded barrel. If the suppressor is rated for subsonic 300 BLK shouldn't it be rated for .308 win subsonic as well since it is the same bullet moving at the same speed? Thanks!

I am aware of the issue of mixing ammo up I'm strictly talking about what the suppressor will handle. If I ever try this it would be monitored very closely.

I have sent a message to Gemtech- no response as of yet.

Thanks for any input you have!

If Gemtech says otherwise, awesome but I am sure it will be NO.

It is rated for 9mm, and for "7.5" or longer 300 BLK Subsonic ONLY". In all caps.

It is a pistol caliber suppressor. 308 is much higher pressure, so will while I am sure it'll "work," eventually too much big ammo will ruin it.

It's a bigger case, so a little more volume means a little more powder for equivalent velocity, ergo higher heat input. But the amount would be fairly negligible.

It can probably handle it, but I would contact Gemtech and get their blessing first, lest you void your warranty.

As an aside, if you want really quiet, get a .32 S&W long chamber insert for that rifle.
