N800000-N900000 Shipped between 1980-83 Yours probably in the last part of 1980 if I did the math right

Damn I would have sworn it was older. Maybe because it looks like it was dredged up from the lake bottom.

Thanks!

S&W 60-7, caliber 38 Special, bbl over two inches, round wooden grips (originally), 5-shot, fixed sights, serial number BSC6***, stainless steel. The previous owner obviously bobbed the hammer, why he did so I don't know.

The victory models were produced from 1942-1945. Almost impossible to pin down shipping year without a letter. Produced with 4" Barrel. I would guess by looking at the picture that the barrel on yours has been cut mainly because the Smith and Wesson stamp is not centered as well as the front sight is not original. The original sight would be the half moon type front sight.
It once had a lanyard ring in the grip frame but has been removed and the hole filled which is very common. WB was most likely stamped by the agency that purchased the gun or a previous owner may have stamped his initials. A factory letter might possible give you more details but its a $100 crap shoot.

Hello,

I did a bit more research and found this gun with similar sites. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/865608261
T
hink that could be the same model? Mine doesn’t say anything about “converted” though.
Thanks

Probably the same model. The barrel on the GB gun has been shortened and new sight installed. That is the conversion. It was done and the company stamped it on the frame before it was reblued.

Not sure exactly what I have. Hopping to get some estimated value or manufacturing date.

38 spl (no model#)
2” barrel
5 shot
S/n 29709

flat latch, diamond grip
Real good condition.

Thanks in advance,
Clay

This going to be a thread for those who are looking for a date of manufacture for their S&W revolvers.

We'd need to know :

a) caliber
b) bbl length (from cylinder to muzzle)
c) grips shape (round or square)
d) number of shots/cylinder bores
e) type of sights.
f) serial number, and if there is a letter in front of or anywhere near the s/n on the bottom of the grip
g) Model number if it is under the crane.
That number, if it is the s/n, should come from the butt of the grip (or under the barrel or face of the cylinder).

A picture or two is worth A LOT of words in this case...

Probably shipped in 1985. S&W does not publish production dates, only shipping date

Hey, my father gave me a gun that belonged to my grandfather. If possible, I would lile to know when it was made. I took to a gunsmith in my town and he said that the original color was black and it's more than 150 years old.

a) 32
b) 7 inches
c) round
d) six
e) fixed
f) under the grip there's the number 0682 with a symbol in front that I can't identify
g) under the crane there is the number 49
