I have several military rifles (a couple, most 'fiddled') and a CZ rifle all in 6.5x55mm. I am terribly amused by two of the very best and most widely suitable rifle cartridges were designed and used prior to the turn of the last Century. 7x57mm Mauser (1892) and 6.5x55mm Swede (1894). Now you mention it, I should have run a couple rounds through them today.

Don't forget about the 6.5x50(Arisaka), I also have the 6.5x55, 6.5x47 and 6.5Grendel. I've found the 6.5 to be a pleasure to shoot and very accurate.

6.5 Creedmoor X2 (Accuracy International AW, Kimber Montana)
6.5x47mm Lapua (Accuracy International AXMC)
6.5 PRC (Kimber Montana 8400 WSM)

I prefer .308 Win, .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua Mag and .375 H&H Mag over all those above. :D

My first centerfire rifle was a milsurp M38 6.5X52mm Carcano carbine that my father purchased for me to use hunting with him and his milsurp .303 SMLE. It's among the oldest 6.5mm rifle cartridges.

6.5 Grendel, 3 rifles
260 Rem, 1 rifle & 1 pistol
6.5 Creedmoor, 4 rifles
6.5 Norma, 1 rifle
6.5 Rem Mag, 1 rifle

All but my AR Grendel have harvested deer.

When I put it in a list like this, I think I need intervention.

CZ 550 6.5x55 here... it quickly became one of my favorite rifle cartridges to shoot and load for.

The Swedes were really on to something so many years ago, it’s too bad the US military didn’t see what Sweden’s military saw in the 26-bore.

Stay safe.
