Oops, I thought you were congratulating me on my 57th wedding anniversary, sorry. LOL
Congrats, flightsimmer! If you don't have a 6.5 of some flavor, that needs to be fixed. Anyway, I will see if I can round up a few for a photo op. I am a 6.5x55 fan, hooked by Swedish model 96 and 38s, joined by CZ 550 full stock and custom Husqvarna 8000 with Pac-nor barrel. It's a sweet Swede, and new variations just make a good thing (marginally) better!

I have 1/2 of a 6.5 arisaka. Plan is to chop the barrel off leaving the threaded shank and thread a new barrel into that. I may just do things the easy way though and just do a barrel liner. Either way, it’s not gonna be a 6.5 jap when I get it all the way together.

Six Fives and full length stocks just naturally seem to go together, here are classic examples. At top is the Granddaddy of 6.5's, the 1903 Mannlicher. Below is Remington's Custon Shop Model Seven in .260 Rem.

Just two so far -- relatively new to the caliber, even if the cartridges I'm loading are quite venerable.
My one and only 6.5 is a Creedmoor HMR just like that.I have a dozen rifles that are more powerful,have custom barrels and high dollar stocks,but that little HMR has stolen my heart.I absolutely love the rifle and the cartridge.Good job on the elk.Of the half dozen bulls I've killed,all of them were shot with a 300WM.It's a M700 that's a lot lighter(and less accurate)than the 6.5.You're right! We only use our 6.5 CMs for elkScoreboard!!

That's actually my grandson's elk and Bergara. He loves it too. That was a 600+ yard shot. I'd be like you and shoot a bigger caliber for a bull. I'm always amazed how big bulls are.

Happy 6-5 day..... Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55, sporterized by Kimber in the mid 1990's. Now in a Bell & Carlson stock versus the Ram Line stock that Kimber was using back then. These pix has been in THR before but worth a rerun on 6-5 day....
