One of the benefits of selling guns on consignment is that you get to see some really nice equipment. Lately I have had a few that you seldom see. A early Colt SAA, a H&K 93, and a 50 year old Walther PPK NIB un-fired to name a few. This week I was graced with a Military P320 Sig. This is M17 9mm surplus gun that was returned, reconditioned and place onto the civilian market. I can't find anything definitive, but there were only 3000-5000 made with the Coyote Tan trimming.

Now my problem is, do I shoot it before I put it online? DSCF0007.JPG

I dont get it, its a 320 with a thumb safety?

It's like if the mil had selected the Glock 17 and slapped a thumb safety on it.

That said, I wouldn't appreciate it if the shop shot the guns I had on consignment, myself. Even the Glock 26 currently sitting in the shop.

To be fair to your consignor, call and ask him. It would be to his advantage if you were thoroughly versed in the pistol so you could explain the fine points to a potential buyer.

As a browser looking at the pistol case... “that one sure is nice looking, must be something seriously wrong with it to be for sale” this goes one of two ways.... shop owner says “yeah I don’t know, but it’s nice, only one way to find out” or “I shot a mag through it and nothing went wrong, it ate the center out of the target and I’m considering buying it myself”. Which one is a better service to the customers on both ends?

I would only shoot this firearm with the owner present.

It’s like people who ask permission to hunt or fish on private property without a lease agreement. My answer is you may do so as my guest, while I accompany you. That is the nature of sport in my experience in the South.

They are already returning surplus on a fairly new line up? Just kinda curious was there any paper work with it that confirms it was ex military used?

There is a letter of authenticity. The first guns have a few extras that are not on the civilian models. The safety, slide release are coyote tan and the stainless slide is PVD coated coyote tan. It has military specified night sights with the rear sight removable for the installation of the Sig Romeo electronic sights. Later guns have black controls.

I wish you were closer, id be interested over that vs getting the commercial version

I was also wondering how it became surplus so quickly. My son's MP unit hasn't even had a chance to train with their's yet.
