I second the CX-4...very accurate, easy to fire. Mine is in 9mm, so I have plenty of 17 round magazines plus a few with the +2 extender. It has the top rail for optics and a small bottom rail at the front of the stock for a light.

It’s my “go to” if I need something for home defense!

I also give the CX4 a thumbs up! Its my go to HD rifle.

It's light enough and compact. Making it very handy and easy to operate single handed

I also have new production Marlin 1894 in 357 and it is my backup HD rifle atm

I am surprised to not see the CX4 in PPC division of USPSA and IDPA. It is not terribly expensive and has the magazine in the grip so it reloads like your pistol. A mandatory reload will spoil an AR9 shooter's day, the movements are so different from the pistol he is used to. Yes, he could practice it and I have seen some better than others but it is still a hangup.

Magazine capacity.

Anyone shooting three gun that's not practicing reloads with all three weapons is already behind the curve. I haven't seen many shotguns with a magazine in the grip.

Probably so, I don't know of a 33 round Beretta magazine.

A three gunner reloading his shotgun is a marvel of dexterity but still slow compared to a pistol reload. For actual shootout purposes, I prefer the Ayoob technique. Put down the empty shotgun and draw the pistol.

Most PCCers do, a combination of push and pull. The many makers are pushing their wares and those already familiar with the AR are pulling them in. The Ruger seems a good choice for somebody not already plugged into the AR.

I have both. The Ruger has a lot less muzzle jump and felt recoil.

I really like my Freedom Ordnance FX9. It’s the 8.5” barrel but can also get in 4.5 and 16. No issues to date. Very well made. Common to most AR parts but receiver made for 9mm specifically. Other good options might be Extar, Foxtrot Mike. New Frontier, if want affordable AR9 style. Extar polymer and unique but great buy at 430. I like PSA stuff but not having LRBHO on their AR9s is a deal breaker for me

Maybe for the straight pistol guys, those of us that shoot 3Gun do it all the time (pistol and carbine reloads).

Pistol bullets FWD, carbine bullets backwards with a beer can grip on the mag.....like anything it's just a practice thing.

Just zeroed my Ruger remodeled (MWI forend) PC9 with a new tritium SeeAll sight at the range yesterday.

The sight works really well at close range, but the adjustments are a bit on the coarse side. I also found the SeeAll's non-captive mounting screw too short (nut falls off when unmounting), so when I got home I kluged up a replacement from an unused UTG scope ring.

I've got a 1st Gen Kel Tec SUB2000( over 10k rounds) I've owned a Camp 9, and have enough time with the Highpoint and Ruger to have an opinion.

My first and strongest recommendation is GLOCK mags. Readily available, reasonably priced, and utterly reliable ( I'm not a fan of GLOCK pistols, but I consider their magazines to be excellent ).

I love the SUB2k, I've got history with it, and it owes me nothing. If I was buying another 9mm, I'd probably buy the Ruger, probably the takedown model.

The few AR pattern 9mms I've fired, just didn't do it for me, and I'm a dedicated disciple of Eugene Stoner.

I do tend to think of a PCC as a pistol plus as opposed to a rifle minus.

Is that the Midwest Industries forend?

Their shorter 12" one, yes -- the 14" was too much of a good thing for my tastes: https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/MI-Ruger-PC9-M-Lok-Handguard-M-LOK-Compatible-p/mi-crpc9.htm

Nice tight fit, no wobble. The side M-LOK rail scallops in slightly, so the rail scales I added are about flush with the sides of the stock.

While I was originally luke-warm about it, I've grown to like the Ruger's take-down feature. Makes cleaning the barrel a snap, and allows me to load this long gun in my car for range trips more covertly using a mandolin case. The latter quality is a thing when you live across the street from an elementary school in California!

I had a Bushmaster M-16 with a 9mm upper…ran Colt mags and a Hahn top load block…never had an issue with it. Sold the lower and the guy didn’t want any of the uppers I had, got a Spikes Tactical from a guy and F1’d it…it runs just as well as the Bushmaster did, only slower.
