Very nice, the ship and map are came out great. I was on the replica they built of the rose when I was a kid, can't remember if it was in mystic ct or Bridgeport ct. Very cool ship.

Very well done. I don’t have the patience for the scrimshaw work. That is a gorgeous horn though. I do have some wood working ability but nothing like what some here have, and just enough to know that I need to stay the heck away from trying a powder horn.

Nice. Ive burned in some scrimshaw in the past. Nowhere near your detail. Curious what tools you used. Also what does Haas Rose mean? Haas is my last name. Just curious.

Ive never owned a powder horn...how are they at keeping powder dry? Not sure if the horn breathes or absorbs or blocks moisture/humidity etc...or if its just as good as plastic at not being permeable. Anyone able to answer?

This thread has responses about both horns and flasks. --->>> https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/keep-you-powder-dry-how-dry.817034/

For instance, 4v50 Gary said, "I've left my powder in horns in a seacoast environment without issue. A good horn that has a good stopper will keep it dry."

I've kept powder in my horns continuously for yrs with no problem, I had some problem with 777, and Pyrodex clumping, solved by adding some of those pill bottle silica packets to the horn. I microwave them for about 30 seconds and allow to cool in a dry place and they will absorb moisture and keep powder running clump free.
