Selling on auction site...feel bad for how high it goes.

That doesn't sound terribly out of line for a converted Saiga. They command a premium, especially being unontanium thanks to the import ban.

Congrats on the successful sale.
 
Yeah....I've been seeing few of them on the auction sights. SQLGeek, I appreciate your post. It does seem reasonable if I really think about it. Thanks!

To me? No, would not bother me one iota. When there is panic shortage many are willing to pay "too much" for stuff. You have something to sell, someone is willing to pay, win win. As long as you are not trying to BS someone, take the money.
When the great mag ban went in I set up a supply to last me my life. When it looked like it would die I took a gamble and started selling mine on E-bay. I made a killing and it bothered me none. I was taking a risk that the ban would be put back and I would be then stuck buying them again. People bidding had the same choice. They could wait and see if ban died, they wanted the mags. So I was happy.
 
Thanks for the replies everyone. It looks like an FFL bought it. Probably will refinish it and sell it for more. I'm quite happy with what I got.

Never really liked the Saiga much. I have a well built AR that I like much more...and now, with the new 18" 1873, I'm going to enjoy it much more. :)

    $1k is probably about right. Its not like you sold a broken gun or something with a ringed barrel. Plus add in the mags, conversion, and inflation... you likely didn’t “make” much.

    I assure you if you buy things, the store or salesman doesn’t mind if you “over pay”
 
When I bid at an auction I attach a figure in my mind that is max. I never go over that. Figure that eventually another will show to bid on. Stuff is only worth what one wants to pay for it ultimately. YMMV
 
If you’ve been open about the condition then it isn’t your problem.

You must be kidding..nobody is forcing these people to bid and 'whatever the market will bear', is as true today as before this bizarre-ness.

I'm going to take a gun to a place today, for him to re-sell, VERY high demand model, and expect to get $100 or so MORE than it went for MSRP..and it's used.

Sporter Saiga, Izshmash marked, $1,000 Unimportable, you sure you think you got too much out of it?

There isn’t much better option for a quality AK. One would be in the Krebs, Arsenal area to compete once that Sporter is reconfigured with US parts for compliance.

I sold a take-off synthetic stock from a Marlin 60 on Gunbroker. It got bid up to more than a new one would have cost. It was in like-new condition, so I didn't feel too bad. At least the guy didn't have to pay sales tax.
 
I consigned 28 guns to the Rock Island Auction Co. in March. The internet auction was in May and almost every gun sold for more than I expected.

All that did was make me HAPPY !! :D

It's a "win-win" if I have ever seen one! :);):D
 
Never auctioned a gun, but have auctioned other things, and the high bids can pinch when 2 or 3 get into a "bidding war." But, against that are all the auctions which got no bids at all, or only went for the opening bid. In an ideal world, those would balance.
 
I talked to the guy. Nice person. Has the licenses to do things with the Saiga I couldn't. I think this really is a win/win. Sorry I posted this. To me, the Saiga was/is pretty barbaric next to my AR, but that small level of bias doesn't mean other people don't love them. Anyway, thanks again for the replies. I'm satisfied with the way things turned out.
 
I've had a couple that went so much higher than I expected..I was giggling when it was over. Some guns just seem to bring out the fringe element bidders who have no sense.

I have no problem taking as much of their money as they want to give me. I didn't make them bid that much.
