A Nebraska hunting guide and outfitting company recently plead guilty to violations of the Lacey Act. This is the most recent court action in the federal investigation that has netted 25 people and $240,000 in fines.

"Federal prosecutors said Monday that 30-year-old Jacob Hueftle and Hidden Hills Outfitters LLC of Broken Bow pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Lacey Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act."

"OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A Texas man and former central Nebraska hunting guide has been sentenced to five years’ probation and ordered to pay more than $80,000 in fines and penalties for his part in an illegal hunting operation."

The charges stem from an investigation into Hidden Hills Outfitters near Broken Bow, which has been accused of a slew of hunting violations, including hunting deer and turkey in baited areas, from a public road, at night, without valid permits, in excess of bag limits and with prohibited weapons.

Probation and misdemeanors, we will probably read about him again...

This kind of stuff makes me sick to my stomach. For every violation they got caught at, odds are there were 20 more. Apparently those "Hidden Hills" were the backseat of a pick-up truck at night.

Sounds like quite the sportsman. Hopefully as part of the plea he is banned from being a guide.

It only takes a cursory reading of Sixguns to see that Elmer would be bunking with the Unibomber if he were still around! Eagles, wolves, owls...the list goes on. Different times, different rules.

In Elmers’ days, there were bounties on wolves, eagles, and owls. Not just legal to shoot, but you were encouraged to.
Indeed a different day and time...
