Some of you may have seen this link I posted earlier of an issue I was having with a 686.

Well, I opened it up, and saw what was happening:
The sear is not extending over the trigger. If you let go of the trigger quickly, it extends properly.
Yes, I know I can pay for shipping and S&W will take care of it. I consider this to be a learning experience, and will do that as a last resort. The sear looks like it is in interference with the trigger under normal conditions. What force makes it "jump" up to clear the trigger? Just the Sear Spring? Manually manipulating the hammer a little will make it go into place and function normally.
I have not replaced any springs or polished anything.
