Has anyone here bought the Taurus G3C ? I usually own Glock , S.A , Beretta and CZ but I am thinking of giving this pistol a try. One of the features I like and find interesting is the trigger can be pulled to fire the striker more than once without racking the slide to "cock" it. I know how "iffy" Taurus was in the past but it seems they have gotten way better in the past few years. I am reading a lot more positive reviews than negative on the new G2C. Any thoughts or experiences ?

We've sold a bunch of G2s and G3s, and they seem like real solid handguns. I haven't heard anything negative from our customers, so they seem OK so far.

I'm behind the times and really don't know of the advertised improvements that make a G3c any better than a G2c. I have a G2c and a PT111 G2 and both have been trouble-free from round one. I guess I have some Googling to do.

Had a PT111 sometime back. No problems with the gun mechanically, just wasn't a good fit ergonomically.

yeah, and i went to the range for the first time with it Tuesday, and took 100 rds of ammo. 115gr. and 124 gr.

the 2 RSO's each had the G2c and they said this was a GREAT improvement. i had nothing to compare it with, it's my first Taurus, let alone the G3c.

if anything both RSO's found is that you have to fully grip the trigger, otherwise, you'll hit low to the left.

i had no problems whatsoever. no fail to fire, no stove piping, no failure to eject, no jam up of any type or kind.

with tax (for me) out the door at under $300..

darned good little gun for the money.

FYI the HK P30SK LEM can also do what you want as far as double strike capability. Sure the HK will be more but also much higher quality pistol than the Taurus. I mention it because you have had higher quality pistols - Glock, Beretta, and CZ already.

Have a G3 and I would say it is equal to the Glock 19 gen4 I used to own. So I would imagine the G3C will be good as well. I've put about 200 rounds through it so far.

My only dislikes are I cannot rack the slide with the safety on to load a round (like I can with my Sigs) and you have to pull the trigger to release the slide to disassemble.

For $249 it is hard to beat and works great as my work desk gun. :)

My experience was not stellar by any means. The gun ran fine, was fairly accurate and the trigger was decent. BUT, after 3000 rds fired I noticed that it had developed spider cracks in the metal underside of the slide on either side of the firing pin assembly. I just don't believe that it will hold up under heavy use with high round counts. Also, if it does fail you are going to have to deal with the industries worst customer service. You can kiss it goodbye for 12+ weeks. If your depending on the gun for protection 12 weeks is an eternity. After dealing with Taurus as a company I said goodbye to it and traded it.

I own a G2 as does my son. Between us about 6k rounds down range with no problems. Factory ammo or reloads it has cycled everything. It is as accurate as I am. That's my $.02.

Anyone considering a Taurus G3C might want to check out this owners experience with pictures. His broke first or second shot and a piece fell out of it. See post 164. He is pretty upset because Taurus sent it to him because his G2 was unrepairable and it took him several months to get that resolved.

I just read that earlier today. His replacement gun , brand new sent to him had it's ejector break off after the second round. Screw that ! Also a well know training place near me were using a few G2C's for training, I read that they also had an ejector break off.

The G2C I've used had a terrible trigger but shot very well, I'm sure if I shot it more I could get familiar with the trigger and would be more accurate. My wife has a SCCY 9mm and I think the trigger is worse on the G2c. I hope they improved the trigger on the G3c

I agree the trigger gets some getting used to. Lots of uptake but a real short reset. Once, I got the feel for it, I am able to get quick shots thereafter. I like the very short reset it makes it easy for me to stay on target. FWIW, Lakeline makes a bunch of aftermarket items that are stainless steel and reasonably priced.

Walther P99 also has 2nd strike capability.

I'd avoid Taurus, really. Your life is worth more....

My G2c has been excellent.

If the G3 version is as good, it's a nice deal.

I've had about a dozen Taurus pistols. One was a lemon that was eventually repaired for free. The rest have been at least okay. Some have been excellent, in fact: all 3 of my Model 66 variants, one of my Model 85's, my PT99 (Beretta clone), and my G2c. The rest have been reliable but with stiff triggers.

I have been shooting this one regularly for 30 years:

They are coming. In the past I steered clear of Taurus but recently purchased a G3C and G3. They fit in well and when I put more ammo through them, I’ll be able to accurately assess them. For now, I’m good with them both!
