How is the Taurus G3C ? I've been very close to getting one since they came out but backed away at the last moment. I've read all about the horror stories from the past before the G series came out. I have my favorite handgun platforms which are what I consider the best : Beretta 92 , Glock 17 , Ruger P89 , CZ75, H&KP30 , and of course the 1911. I am just wondering how these things might end up being. Last year I took a chance and bought a Bul Cherokee for $300. It's a CZ 75 type action and almost a CZ clone in polymer. The thing runs great and I'm glad I got it. I'm just thinking the G3C might be the same type of thing hopefully. I've always wanted a cheap shop gun so this might do. How are you guys experiences with the G3c or the G3 ?

Problems didn't disappear with the G series

Bought two (2) G3C -Grandsons Taurus G3C failed. Magazine button & spring fell out. Dropped the magazine. Put in service 1/19/21. Was shot very little. About 150 rounds total.
Replaced the parts correctly. Has been working ok since.

Have shot Remington factory & my cast bullet reloads with out ammo problems. Both guns run, no jams. Average accuracy for a spay & pray model.

Photos, reloading data & more

I have a pt111 g2 mill pro and it's very good, but not as good as the gx4. The gx4 feels more quality in the hand. Perhaps the g3c has improved that but I can't say. For the price the g3c is hard to beat.

Can let you know probably in a few weeks. I picked on up this past week.

I already have a G2C, which has been OK. The G3C fixes the annoyances of the G2C.

I see it as an inexpensive way to get into an optics ready pistol.

I'm an officer and in the last few years I have placed a few in evidence as found property. Most were left at hotels and on roofs of cars and fell onto the roadway. When I prepared them to go into evidence , they cycled fine and seemed just as well built as other big name brands. One was ran over on the road several times and had the yellow line paint ground into the slide. I placed an ink pen down the barrel and did a check on the firing pin as you would a Glock to see if the striker is working. It worked fine. I might get one after Christmas unless I wonder into a heck of a good deal like I did last time : I was about to get a Taurus G3C and on the way to the gun shop I thought I'd stop at my favorite pawn shop. They had a Glock 27 darn near mint with hardly any wear and it dated back to when Glock still used Tenifer. It was $299. I grabbed it up quick as I could and so the Taurus was put on the back burner LOL.

I'm not sure why someone would purchase Taurus G3c when the Sarsilmaz pistols are much better and cost the same or less. Maybe the second-strike capability is super-important to you ? kje54 posted this previously:

Sarsilmaz SAR9

SAR also makes a SAR9 subcompact:

Could you give me a recap of the repair?
I made a wood shim to hold the spring in the correct location, under tension, then inserted the mag release button. Removed shim.

The screw driver method on youtube was tried by my grandson, first, it fell right out.

"Only rich guys can afford "cheap" stuff". :)

Youre way better off biting the bullet and spending money you don't have for quality stuff with a good track record. Its usually cheaper in the long run. ;)

Yeah , that is why I skipped the first few temptations I had to buy this.

I just went to the Taurus forum and they have a separate portion just for Taurus failures. That is not good . that is pretty bad !

The last time I had a jonesing for a G3C, I scratched that itch by tracking down a Ruger P95 for $225. Like some of your guns you listed, I like guns that have been time-tested and proven.

I have a Hellcat Pro, Ruger EC9s, Glocks 43X, 48, 19, 23, 19x, Colt Commander, Kimber GM Lightweight and several S&W revolvers. I carry a Taurus GX4. Well, I did until my wife appropriated it and I had to buy another. No problems with either one.

This is a sample size of one so your mileage might vary.

I had a G3C. I got it on sale and used points from my CC to pay for it so I came out of pocket about $170 or so. Cheap. It came with 3 mags which was nice. I cleaned it up and fired it for about a year. New ammo or reloaded it never had a malfunction that I can recall. I would guess I put close to 1500 rounds through it. Only things I didn't like about it were the finish seemed a little light, I felt it would be prone to wear. The double strike capability on the trigger would throw me off. But that was my style of shooting and not a issue to the gun. All in all I thought it was a decent cheap gun and if I had to I would get one again. In the long run I sold it off as I didn't like the double strike capability. If it were the only gun I was shooting I would have gotten use to it but swapping back and forth the trigger was driving me insane.

Kinda. I have enough money now. When I was young, I was always broke. I think I bought about ten used handguns for cheap over the past couple of years. One was a total piece of junk, not under warranty or worth fixing. The other nine were fine. When I was young and broke, choosing the useless one would have been a financial disaster. Now I can break the frame and throw it in the lake and it doesn't matter. I couldn't afford to lose $200 when I was 21. Ironic that now when I don't really need a great deal on a good used handgun, they find me anyway.

The OP isn't wanting to speculate on a used 80 year old pistol from a defunct manufacturer, though. Taurus is usually adequate. I've owned a bunch of their handguns. If there's a 99% probability it works okay in the first place, and a 99% probability that they'll fix it properly if it doesn't, it's not a major risk. Buying a Glock or something would just improve the odds a tiny bit. Every company makes lemons.

I had a G2c. It worked fine. It was so similar to my Glock 26 that I eventually sold it, because I liked the Glock trigger a little better. I have GX4 now. It works fine. The trigger is actually good. (The g2c was kinda "squishy.)

Check GunDeals instead of ammoseek for guns, right now SAR9s are starting in the high $200s up to the price you listed and a little higher. A couple of weeks ago they were even lower priced, on sale for the low $200s.
