While I have limited range time and no malfunctions with the Range Officer 9mm, I am concerned that the magazine seems to barely be holding onto the next round after cycling. When I eject the magazine after chambering a round, a round always comes tumbling out after the magazine.

Has anyone with range time on this gun experienced anything troubling? The gun itself shoots and carries like a dream...but that magazine issue does have me wondering. As always, I appreciate THR's input.

I run a Range Officer Operator in 9mm and observe the too round slipping forward in the magazine as well, even with the mag in a mag pouch after a long day. I believe the reason is because the round is tapered, and tends to slip forward.

I run the Brownells house brand mags and am happy with them, but still have the same issue. What I dont like about any of the mags is unloading them. The taper causes them to now down in the mag.

I dont have a solution for you, but that's my theory on it.

Friction from the top round being chambered against the next round drags it forward against the ramp, the rim barely in the lips. Pulling the magazine flips that round out.
SIG-Sauers are subject to it, too.
Shooting is not affected but it is annoying.
I have a .45 magazine that will not drop free because the round pushed forward against the ramp holds it.

I learned how to use the UpLula to unload 10x9mm magazines. Not fast but it saves thumbs.

Had the same thing happen occasionally with my DW Valkyrie, but only with the metalform 8 round mags, never with the Wilson 9 or 10 round mags.

Never have had issues with reliability, no matter the mag, however.
