I picked up this Canik at Academy for about $165 out the door by taking advantage of Academy’s recent First Responders/Military/Healthcare discount.

I had been eyeing it since I saw it a couple months ago as I like the Patriot Brown Cerakote. However, the one that my Academy had was bought. Fortunately, they had another come into stock which I snatched up.

It is my first Canik; I shot it yesterday and was very impressed. Extremely tight group (about two inches) when shooting slow fire at 15 yards. It shot a little high so I’ll just be sure to use a 6 o’clock hold.

I only shot about 50+ reloads (115 grain Berry’s plated round nose on top of 4.7 grains Titegroup and CCI SP primer and mixed brass), but I suspect it’ll work fine with anything.

The only complaints I have (and they are minor) is that when inserting magazines, I pinched myself once (see pics) and the gun is very beefy, reminiscent of the HK USP and P2000SK series).

I’ll see how it does in time, but so far, it’s looking good!

Now, what optic should I put on it... it uses a Shield/Romeo Zero footprint. It seems that the Swampfox Sentinel and one of the Holosun models fit, but I’m not familiar with Swampfox. If anyone is, I’d love your input. Thanks!

giggity giggity

While not my first choice in gun colors (or second or third for that matter), it looks to be a nice compact pistol at a phenomenal price!

Sweet! Canik makes great guns. Great Price! I think you will see really good reliability with your new Canik.

One thing you did right is shooting ammo that is a little hotter than the 115 gr Winchester white box for example. Caniks are made to shoot 9mm Nato which I believe is a little hotter than our basic 9mm fmjs. I load 124 gr fmjs that I shoot out of my Canik SFX.

I like Vortex Venom but for a carry gun you may want a red dot that shakes awake.

My full size relay likes a 124 with 4gr titegroup. I have close to 10,000 rounds through mine with absolutely no issues.

Correction: $365. Must have “fat-fingered” my phone’s keypad.
Damn I was about to try and find one hahahaha. I used I a rental TP9sf for a pistol class a while back and I found it to be a really accurate and easy to shoot pistol. Wouldn’t mind having a Canik at all.
