I couldn't count how many times I've looked at Canik pistols. I liked a lot of things about them, mainly the trigger, the Walther-ness feel, and the price to name a few..but I've never actually owned one.

Then, last Monday it happened. I was browsing the few pre-owned handguns a local shop had and saw a used TP9 Elite SC. I asked to see it, and was told it was traded/sold as an unfired gun someone bought along with several others and was never actually fired.

A reasonable price later, I finally became a Canik owner.

The first time out, I was very impressed. The nicest trigger for the money - no question. My Q5 Match is pretty good, but it was more than 2x the price.

Accuracy was excellent, it really put a smile on my face at the end of the day. Ultimately, I'd rather have an all black version, but this will certainly do. I cannot reccomend Canik enough.

A few months ago I bought the same Canik with the thought of mounting a mini red dot sight. I already had great experience with the Sig Romeo Zero, so that's what was installed. I love the gun. Love it more with the red dot. Just for kicks I also mounted a green laser. If I can't hit something now. it's all on me... not the gun.:notworthy:

The best part is that the cases are eject a bit backward where I can retrieve them easily at the indoor range I use. Very nice gun. I compare my Caniks to my HKs. No complaints.
Here's SC prior to the optic ...

Well I took my little SC out today. The first time out with it (it hadn't been fired yet) I blasted a box of Aguila 115gr and some 147s through it - no problems.

Today, I brought a box of Blazer 115gr brass along, and every last round in the mag would stove pipe on empty. Not lock back, but fail to eject properly. I've been reading that Caniks like hotter ammo when new, and I know Blazer isn't the hottest stuff out there but I was kinda surprised it kept happening. I didn't have any other stuff to try, so I'll have to wait til next time.

Despite that, it is a sweetheart to shoot. My accuracy with it is superb. It and my VP9 optic ready model are my favorite 9mms.

I'm going with the Romeo Zero as well, I have one on my Hellcat and like it a lot.

I agree that I'm surprised about the blazer not cycling the last round.

With that said, my wife's vp9 sure liked a hotter round than any other we've got. It really seemed to like 124 grain more than 115.

Other than that. Keep it clean during break in and use light oil not anything heavy.

It was weird...it'd feed fine, but the last empty casing just couldn't quite clear. Nothing wrong with the ammo, my 19X ate and it spit it all out.

I remembered I fired some Blazer 124s through it the first time out and had no issues with those.

Chalking it up to being new. The recoil springs are very strong.
