I’ve always had a fondness for the 32s

Code:
Left to right:
.32 Short, .32 ACP, .32 Long, .32 H&R Magnum and .327 Federal Magnum
and have had a hankering for the Federal 327 Magnum. Then I saw this:

But the Federal 327 Magnum and the H&R 32 Magnum need more support, which brings use to S&W. What’s the possibility of S&W introducing a 327 snubby? A 7 round 327 snubby would be an attractive carry gun.

They had the 632 snubby but it was a limited run. If the Ruger's meet the limited demand, I doubt they would take it up. The SS guns are a touch heavy for pocket carry. The 432s in 32 HR mag and the lighter 332s are in demand by fans and some pro gun folks love them. They would have to do a market survey to see if retooling to a lighter snubby would be worth it.

I don't think S&W making .32 revolvers is what's going to be the catalyst for some explosion in the popularity of the caliber. To put it frank, Smith's aren't cheap. I think Taurus is the company that could make a splash if they'd make a snub in .32 Mag based off the 85 and sold it for $275 or a 605 in .327 and sold that for $425.

Even then, what really needs to change things in regards to .32 and .327 Mag is more ammo. The market needs a company like PPU, Magtech, FIocchi, etc to sell a 50 rd box of the stuff for $18.

They also need to have more economical 32 H&R available.

I'm still dreaming of a 10 shot HD revolver with a rail on the top and bottom in .32mag. One can dream. I think it would sell well in mag limited states.

I'm also a big .32 fan. Lots of goodness and flexibility in that caliber for the reloader, tougher if someone is buying it off the shelf.

It's not like there's a massive power gap between .32 S&W Long and .32 H&R Mag. If you're just practicing, .32 S&W Long is fine and a lot cheaper, but for any serious use the $1/round ammo that's out there for .32 Mag is an acceptable price. I just wish it was better performing.

When you get to .327 tho, that's where I'd like to see a company like PPU or Armscor or Magtech make some ammo that's closer to starting loads because even starting loads in .327 are a lot more power than .32 Mag.

It’s kind of a chicken-and-egg problem. There’s needs to be more manufacturers offering more guns chambered in 327 to drive up demand for the cartridge thereby driving down prices. And there needs to be less expensive ammo to drive up demand for guns chambered in the cartridge.

10 shot would probably put it in an n frame.

It could be interesting to see a s&w 329 in 327mag. Light enough to carry everywhere, and works well for a home defense gun

I was hoping the Henry Big Boy chambered in 327 would help some. I don’t know how well the levergun was received? Anyone out there have any ideas how well it’s selling?

On Gunbroker ... if its chambered in 32 Mag it sells
If chambered in 327 ... it sells high ... the market is there ... I had a heck of a time finding my LCR327 at a reasonable price ... ( still high) ... I lucked up

I just won a NIB 6.5” Bisley Blackhawk in .32 H&R for roughly $650... it went for higher than I thought it would, but since I wanted it a lot I put in a high bid to begin with.

It’s pricy getting into a completely new caliber, as now I’m spending $$ on cases, bullets, dies...

Id love a 7-shot .327 K-frame with a 5” barrel. I missed out on the 5” GP 100’s :(.
Stay safe.

I do not know how well it selling, but I bought one. Nice rifle. Nice addition to the 327 Mag revolvers that I have.

While I'd like to see more 327 Fed Mag handguns, I wish S&W would bring back the Model 16 in the Classic line chambered for 32 S&WL. Used Model 16's or K-32's are essentially "unobtainium" these days and my 32 S&WL J-frames shoot crazy small groups.

A J-frame could easily accommodate 6 rounds of Federal 327. And that would be an excellent carry piece.

They discontinued that gun - the 632 both in snubby and 3 inch hammered..

These are the guns I’m aware of which are currently being sold in .327 Fed Mag.

Henry Rifle in 2 models.
Ruger Single Seven birdshead Grip
Ruger Single Seven in 3 different barrel lengths
Ruger SP101
Ruger LCR
Ruger LCRx
Ruger GP100
Ruger Bisely New Model Single Six

To ‘my’ knowledge we’re at the high water mark for production models in .327 FM available on the market since it’s introduction.

From the looks of that line up maybe we ought to informally call it the .327 Ruger Magnum as a tip of the hat in appreciation for what they’re doing for the fans of the caliber in keeping it going.

I’m really surprised charter hasn’t brought back their .327 guns. The patriot was a bit large. They could have easily built it on the smaller frame, and used a smaller cylinder.

I quickly measured the cylinders on an SP101 and Birdhead Single Seven.

SP101 fluted 6 round cylinder: 1.352 dia.
BH unfluted 7 round cylinder: 1.417 dia.

I’m no engineer but one would think that if Ruger really wanted to they could shoehorn an unfluted 7 round .327 FM cylinder into their SP101 frame.

Sounds doable and attractive.

They've tried (poorly) with .32 H&R Mag and IMO that's about ideal for a small, light .32 revolver. I say about ideal, I wish there was a .32 H&R +P, something that goes a bit beyond the max pressures of .32 Mag, which is 21k PSI, because 1100 fps with a 100gr bullet from a 3" barrel is fine. Like, 25k PSI would probably get that.

The .327 is such a high pressure cartridge that it must quickly wear revolvers of cheaper quality like Charters. .32 Mag is fine in a Charter... if they can just get the sights to shoot to POI.
