Got a Tanfgolio 1911 air pistol. Nice, but a pain to load. Nothing to hold down the follower in the mag. Some of these type pistols you can tilt the follower so stays in place. Not this one. I tried a few things to load it without breaking off my thumb nail, but it was still a pain. I even scoured the Internet for a solution. So after a single malt, the idea came to me. “I needed something to hold the follower while I loaded”. Needed a second one to figure it out while I threw the bad to my lab.
‘Then it came to me. Drill and tap a hole in the side for a screw to hold it down!
So first we take a look at the mag. Will this work?
Seems it will. First step is take it apart. Looks easy enough. And it was.
It appears to have enough metal to thread. Next I marked where I wanted to put the hole. Off to the garage to drill a hole.
Hole done. Where’s my tap. Right where I left it of course. This is the one I used.
Now to tap the hole. I am not a metal worker. When I work metal, it looks like it.
Now it’s clean up and reassembly. Won’t bore you with that. Now the final product.
It loaded better than I thought. Now I can shoot more without all the problems with loading. Did the second mag too. Let me know what you think.
