This is sorta cheating... but these calibers do come chambered in semi-autos so I guess they qualify...

Stay safe .

Howdy

You want moon clips, I've got you beat. Well 1/2 moon clips anyway. Here is the revolver firing a semi-auto cartridge that started it all. A Smith and Wesson model 1917, that left the factory in 1918, and an almost full box of 45ACP on half moon clips that left a different factory the same year. Actually, I prefer to shoot 45 Auto Rim rather than ACP ammo on clips with a Model 1917.

Here is a pair of Brazilian Contract 1917s from the late 1930s.

Here is a Model 1955 Target that left the factory in.............................1955.

Here is my Ruger 45 Colt Blackhawk with auxiliary 45ACP cylinder. This was the first single action cartridge revolver I bought, back in 1975. To tell you the truth, I didn't even want the ACP cylinder and tried to buy the gun without it. No soap, had to buy the entire package. To this day I have probably put less than a box of 45ACP through it. Before anybody asks, no the ACP cylinder is not for sale. Never know when I won't be able to load up any 45 Colts and will have to shoot the ACP ammo I have been hoarding all these years.

It’s unfortunate that my Webley Mk.VI was at some point in its life converted to use moon clipped .45ACP as that somewhat lessened the collector value of what is otherwise a gun in amazing condition for its age. That does, however mean that technically I can participate in this thread even if I never have fired .45ACP out of this gun.

S&W 325PD, in .45ACP. Yes, it uses moonclips. I like moonclips. Moonclips are the reason I have the inner strength to get out of bed in the morning.

Andy, Good luck with your PD. I searched for one with a 4" barrel for over 2 years. When I finally got one it had the worst trigger pull of any S&W I've ever owned, and that's a lot of them. I only fired a few cylinders full before I took it to a smith for a trigger job. When I got it back and got to the range I only manged 12 rounds before I noticed something under the barrel stud on the frame. When I turned it upside down and looked the 'Scandium' frame was cracked all across the length of the barrel threads.

S&W didn't want to cover it under warranty because I wasn't the original owner. They did offer to look at it (for $60) and if it could be fixed I would have to pay for all parts and $90/hr labor. Needless to say it sets in the back of the safe, my dream carry revolver, useless other than as a bad example of Smith & Wesson warranty policy.

So as I said, good luck...and I like Moonclips too!

Dave
