B3E781F6-471D-441A-A95A-D8BE8E942AF1.jpeg Winchester 94 1973 vintage. Estate sale find. Very rashy. I am refinishing wood and metal. My first lever gun to detail strip. The sear caught my eye. Am I correct thinking I need to replace? The photos I found don’t tell me much.
You are facing the front of the trigger in the photo.

I'd replace it. Be advised that they used a mystery metal in the post 64 94s and they don't blue up like the old forged steel ones. Good luck and enjoy. Any 94 is a fun gun.

I have a mid 70s 94 I picked up cheap...someone had (believe it or not) spray painted the entire gun, wood and all...with matte black Rustoleum.
I stripped all the metal. Anything blued was fine, but the reciever lost all its finish, leaving it a wonderful antique worn gray look. I like it very much and other than refinishing the wood, left it as is. I just waxed the reciever, and over the seven or so years I have had and used it the reciever is weathering just fine.

I removed the sear from the group and got it under good light and magnification. It’s broken. I can tell from the screws it has been taken apart before and a little carelessly.
