Finished on Turkish Mauser stock

Looks good to me! Is that a small ring? I didn’t know the turks made small rings. Cock on closing also? Interesting, i’ve got some reading to do. What did you use for finish, true oil?

I really don't think that's bad at all, especially considering it was so dinged up to start with. Those dark spots are almost impossible to get out without some pretty aggressive sanding, and if you do that, you might as well just ahead and do a full-on bubba job on it. I think you've got all the rights to be proud of it as it turned out.

Looks pretty good for an "old timer." You probably learned a lot about your rifle just taking it apart. Thank you for the pictures!

This is the only Turk I have and I’m not too familiar with them. I tried a different furniture finish on this one. Combined BLO and drying agents.

Thats a really early Lowe of Berlin '93 Ottoman contract gun- it was originally fitted for a magazine cutoff and would have been chambered for 7.65 Belgian (same as Argentine). The Turks never actually forged any Mauser receivers, but the Ankara Arsenal was one of several which did upgrade work between the wars- reboring the chambers for 7.92 Mauser, removing the magazine cutoff, and machining the thumb groove next to the stripper clip guide.

Nice rifle!

I’ll agree with the others, very nice .

Heck, for a gun approaching 90 years old that was used in probably the most ridiculous conditions anywhere, it is a good looking piece of history. It’s too bad it can’t tell us the stories of its use throughout the years, I bet it saw some amazing stuff.

Great job bringing an old warrior back to fighting shape :).

Stay safe.

Thats a Turk 1893. Looks in good shape plus it still has the magazine cutoff there. Most were removed when rearsenaled. I would n,t mess with it much more. That 50 buck gun is now 300 or better,

Sadly i really messed up not buying a pallet of 93's instead of 1903/38's and 38's. The 93's are all pre 1898 and can be sold w/o FFL dramatically increasing price. They are going well above 4 bills and climbing. These can, however, be fired w/0 the bolt being fully closed so heads up.
