just wanted to share my experience on my wait time for e-file form ones. I filed them on January 11 and two of them came back yesterday February 11 and the other 3 came back this morning. I was reading about long times and was completely surprised when they showed up this soon. this isn't my first time waiting on stamps but I don't think that matters with the wait times.
just thought I would share

So what constitutes "wait time" and when does it start? When you submit and the ATF receives the application, or when they cash your check?

I think the consensus is that the wait time starts the day the check is cashed.
As with any gov regulation though, it would take an army of attorneys a year to get to the point of it being clear as mud.

Thanks for the info, but now I suddenly feel like the groundhog just saw his shadow..... an additional 6 weeks of jail for my suppressor.....

Ha! What's really fun is when you start looking at that reddit site listed above or nfa tracker and see approvals coming back for people that went pending after yours did!
There are a bunch that went pending a month after mine that have already been approved.

So, called today to check on my 2nd form 4, and was told that it takes about 60 days to get the stamp mailed. So don't get too happy when you find out you're approved.

As of the middle of last year that number was 45 days between approval and mailing. They seem to be slipping...

I'm hoping it's a temporary bubble since I have a Form 1 that just went pending and a Form 4 that will be pending by the end of March (hopefully).

Paper forms are mailed to a bank in Portland, OR where payment is stripped out (credit card info, checks, money orders, etc) and then forms are sent to the NFA Branch in Martinsburg, WV.

There they sit until a data entry clerk enters the info on the form.

"Checked cashed" is just the confirmation that ATF has your form.

I'll bet the clerk meant it could take "up to" sixty days. They tell you that so you stop calling.
Rarely does it take sixty days, in fact out of my last several hundred its pretty rare to be more than a couple of weeks from date of approval to the postage meter date. The longest delay for one of my customers was an F4 approved in late December 2018 and not mailed until early February 2019........because of the Fed gov shutdown.

Paper F1 or Eform 1 ?
Both forms went out as hard copies.

It's hardly a hindrance - the soon-to-be SBR is fully functional in pistol configuration and the silencer (Form 4) is merely a supplement to another that can be easily switched back and forth.

Fingers crossed!

It took 8 months 22 days for my 2 Form 4 suppressors to be approved.
Thinking I may do a couple more. A 22LR suppressor and a Form 1 SBR.

2 F4 suppressors bought/check cashed same day in March. Recieved one stamp last month.
1 F4 suppressor bought/check cashed in April. Received stamp last month.

I guess I must be the exception, I sent an Eform1 out in late Oct. Submitted the print cards when requested in mid Jan., still waiting.

Does it take longer for the first one perhaps? With the mail being what it is, hopefully my prints traveled two states over in 10 days.

But, but, but................WHY?:what:
Eform 1's are approved in a matter of weeks vs the months for a paper F1.
Fingerprint cards still have to be sent in. If nothing else it gives the ATF a chance to lose everything at once (which happened a few Form 4s ago). As I said before, the gun is still fully functional while I wait.
