Not ALL BB guns are for kids. I've got 5mm and .177 pellet rifles, but nothing I have is as much fun as this.

Just because you can't hear pellet rifles being "fired" from 1/8 mile away doesn't mean they aren't being used by adults.

This .22 pellet rifle below is as large and heavy as a full size rimfire rifle.

On the other hand, this .22 pellet rifle (modded for night shooting) is a flyweight in comparison.

Yeah, that's the downside to an airgun compared to a firearm. I've replaced seals in the air guns that were worth repairing.

1. Not every gun store has .22 LR every time I check, but I can usually find some, with patience. On-line, I may not be able to find the exact load I want, and it is never inexpensive, but I can usually find something for sale. It did not take a panic-demic, however, to move me toward .22 LR. When I was making relatively little money, as a young street cop, in the Eighties, I did the math, and realized that a K-Frame .22 LR revolver would pay for itself, if used for much of my DA trigger training. This carried-over to a SIG P229R, my duty pistol from 2004 to 2015, especially when .40 recoil started vexing my aging right hand and wrist, in 2011, about age 50, adding yet another reason .22 LR training would be important.

The SIG was/is a DAK, which was my choice, as most of my colleagues, who opted to pay the considerable extra dollars for duty SIGs, went with DA/SA. Because I did not need to train for the DA/SA transition, the DA revolver was an excellent understudy gun.

I have no earthly idea how that “1” appeared at the opening of this reply, some kind of fat/clumsy fingering, or an inadvertent bump, but, I cannot make it go way, using this iPad. I will post the reply, and see if I can then remove it by going back in, for an edit. (Nope, editing would not remove it, either. The “1” is just gonna hafta stay there.

After Sandy Hook, everyone talked about not getting caught short of .22lr again. Thankfully, I listened.

My grandkids have several bb guns that stay at my house. We have a backyard range set up and a trap to catch the ammo? I recently picked up the adult size RedRyder so I could compete with them. They are learning firearm safety and having fun. Forgot to mention they are better shots as well.

That was my wakeup call as well. If I couldn't find a single brick of .22 I'd be OK right now for about 7-8 years without slowing down my rimfire shooting at all.

I learned in 2008 after Obummer got elected ... I made it through Sandy Hook of okay but it seriously depleted my 22LR supply ... and who ever thought all the 380 would disappear!!!
After Sandy Hook and because of emerging grandkids, I slowly tripled my 22LR supply and stocked up on everything else as well

I must be the outlier as growing up there was never any excess .22 ammo laying around so if I wanted to shoot the old .22 I need to buy ammo to feed it for myself. It was more important to have squirrel ammo than go to the movies or such. Ever since then I have always realized the value of buying in good times to tide me over. This has followed me in respect to firearms and reloading/casting. In later years I have branched out into .177 air guns as well but the .22 will always be the last to go if it comes to that.

In the waning years of the Bush II admin I could see the writing on the wall concerning the Democommunists agenda towards the 2nd amend. at that time (2006) Federal 550 bulk pak was going for $6.94 so every trip to chinamart I picked up one or two boxes .that's the .22lr I'm shooting now. I also about 2 years ago picked up a Benjamin Bulldog .357 PCP big bore air rifle which I feed regular .358 soft lead bullets which I resize to .357 diameter. Just picked up 1200 rounds of 105gr and 158gr. If i want I can use these bullets for my powderburners also since I reload .38/.357 cal.

I shoot my Red Ryder BB gun every day at small targets. It’s the same size as my favorite lever actions and just plain fun.
Works for mice,moles and red squirrel too.

got a ruger ranch 5.56 carry in jeep and just purchased a walther p22 that i carry around on farm have plenty of 22lr and 5.56 saving all my other for hunting, if we all did this it would not be long until this ammo would come down, got my governor loaded with 410 self defense for home
