Ultimate Arms & Devil Dog

Anybody own or have any experience with either of these 1911s? Wondering about build quality, attention to detail, etc. Really wonder about the Ultimate Arms after long term use.

Never heard of either company. What draws you to them??

No clue about their super duper x10 exotic frame material in the 1st link.. I think its been proven that frames can be made of just about anything if they are engineered correctly.

I'm just in the market for something new. Came across both of these just by accident. Can't say either ring my bell, but they got me curious.

The Devil Dog looks interesting. Decent price, for a more unique looking pistol, hopefully well put together, by Marines(implied).

The other one, looks like I need to wipe my phone for viruses...:D

There are a great many 1911s in the price range you just gave with these two options. ($1,200-2,400)
Be sure you get the 1911 you want, up front, and don’t settle. If you want to pay more for a racy looking one, or one that is plain but super tight from a quality maker that’s fine, no wrong answers.

But in that range are a good number of not-never-heard-of manufacturers using not gimmick frames.

Colt Competitions, Dan Wesson’s, the fancier Kimbers(I like the Aegis with the Hexcuts.), and Sigs.
Just something to think about.

What floats your boat in the 1911 world, @tuckerdog1?:)

With a couple exceptions, I'm all over the map. Not a fan of double stacks or 1911s with accessory rails. I like a clean look. Dan Wesson does a great job at that. No huge ugly billboard cluttering up the whole slide. Currently have 1911s in 22LR, 9mm, 10mm & 45ACP. Should probably be looking for a 38 Super. Cost wise, I like to stay in the mid-high teens.

Sportsman’s has a Gold Cup 38 Super as we speak... wink, wink.:)

That is a nice looking pistol. And I like blue grips on a stainless pistol. Just today, got a set of blue grips for one of my Ruger SR1911s. The only Colt I own is a Woodsman from the 1930's. However, says it's out of stock. Seems to be the case with just about everything everywhere.

Devil Dog Arms was involved in a bit of a scandal a while back, their founder claimed he was a USMC sniper but it wasn’t true. Stolen valor, so he stepped down. I believe the company was restarted and has no affiliation with the original founder.

I just gotta scratch my head & wonder about people that do the stolen valor thing. They just have to know that the time will come, and they will be exposed. And that shame will follow them forever. How can it be worth it?

I agree.
I would like to think that the shame of firing every single employee, even the ones who weren’t liars, many of whom were ex-military, to bury the debacle, would follow the company to the end.
I don’t think CZ or Ruger would fire the factory floor staff because the executive is a dirtbag...

They probably should have let the brand name die. I wouldn’t have known about any of it that way.

Any other choices I can ruin for you?
(Sorry.:()

Reminds me of the American Spirit Arms debacle. Two of my friends lost their $$ spent there on happy talk bold promises. The company ressurected for a time but, always junk as far as I was concerned from the outset, some remain true believers after replacing everything .
