This is my first post here, I just found the site. I am interested in NFA weapons and work for a Class 3 dealer and 7 manufacturer.
We just finished a de-milled MG 42, CZ 23 and a #3 Sten, as the owner is a collector he wanted a 10-22 conversion and gave me the additional project. I got the TEK conversion book and am having some trouble getting it to work properly.
My question is had any one had any experience with this conversion?? or one simular?? and would be willing to share what they have learned
Thanks

That may be the last resort if I can not find the problem, does anyone have contact information on Mr.. Norrell??

light firing pin strike is part of the problem. With all parts installed and I cannot get the firing pin to strike the cartridge. I have measured every thing twice and all the parts are made to specs. I am using the forward bolt arrestor with what TEK refers to as the select fire II lever. it will fire in the semi auto mode but not select fire mode.
I can only assume the timing is off somehow, when I set the hammer strike to .010 to .015 as the plans call for bending the auto sear tang the firing pin does not strike the cartridge. It has to be something simple I am just not seeing it. The bolt is also milled to the specs called for as is the trip pin.

The bolt lock clearance is .018 measured from the barrel to bolt face when locked in battery, I have been measuring the trip with feeler guage I can get the bolt to trip between .015 and .020
I have not changed the auto sear other than bending the tang as the book calls for. I set the clearances with a lesser spring as was recommended, but the original spring does not do any better.

so you are working for 07manufacturer, and are legal to build, now that is good. i think you are right, timing is off. And bolt bounce, with the bolt back as little .015 the hammer can not come in contact with the firing pin. with out making a new lock to tighten up .018 movement , I would bend your trip to make it release sooner and try to time it to get the hammer to hit the pin in between the bolt bounce. hope i made that clear for you. it is hard to work on this over the web. it can be made to work, but is just about timing. here is a picture of one that they got work.

That makes sense, I had suspected the timing was the problem. I will make a new arrestor and tighten up bolt. I have not hardened the auto sear so I can still adjust that. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
I see you are from Washington did you perchance know Wayne Thornbrugh? He had a Washington address. I had met him when I worked for the publisher that printed his book in the1980's.

no i did not know the man. you did not think to hard about making a new bolt lock, if you can machine that why not machine the bolt for a moving
weight? nick ( MachIVshooter ) he is on this sight has done it . to help his 10/22. 1022bolt1z.jpg Norrel_Tungsten_Bolt_2a_jpg-1498186.JPG
others have machine the bolts, will need a detent in trigger housing. best of luck with this also
when you get it running post a video.

I had not thought about it, but it looks like a good idea. If a new arrestor does not work I might give that a try.

Hi, I'm back
Got the Ruger running now. Very interesting problems to solve. It is an amalgamation of the Norrell and TEK systems. The main problem was bolt bounce I solved that with counter weights in the bolt and used a bolt arrestor from the TEK system along with the selector switch from that as well. What really gummed up the project was that the auto sear shown on the TEK system is drawn incorrect its .125 short on the sear surface once that was corrected things went good. Paper work all finished so we are good to go. Thanks to Mach IV shooter he helped a lot along with others that provided some information.
I will attempt to post a video as soon as I can get out to get one shot, the neighbors frown on my testing guns in the back yard.
