Ok, I've seen the MG-42 kit for the 10/22 and it looked pretty cool for a gun to just have fun with. What I want to know is how many other types of conversion kits are out there, I seem to recall seeing a Sterling smg kit but I can't find anything on the Internet. So what do you guys think, have you seen any cool or off-the-wall kits for the 10/22?

I can never remember their web address, but iron wood designs has stocks to make your 10/22 look like an AUG or walther wa2000. I believe both options have built in scope mounts. They are pricey, but very high in the neatness category( especially the walther).

Be most wary of the Muzzlelite bullpup stocks. Unless you try one in person and like it, I'd definitely pass.

I'm as fascinated by bullpups as the next guy, but the Muzzlelite was flimsy, and had unquestionably the worst trigger pull I have ever experienced on a firearm, squirtgun, capgun, or fire extinguisher.

But on the opposite end of the 10/22 price/quality spectrum:

SpaceCowboy is referring to Ironwood Designs.

For those of you concerned, it's about $500 for the AUG, $1K for the WA2000.

At first those sounded a bit high to me, but heck, compared to the other projects people spend money on, it's not half bad if you get a really high-quality bullpup out of it. Folks are drooling to spend $1200 on a .223 AUG, folks who don't compete routinely drop $400 on a semi-decent scope.

Considering how much use a frequent shooter gets out of a good .22LR, that's not too darn bad. I'm in gradschool right now, but haven't ruled out getting myself a little something special if I pick up a good job out of school...

Not as pricey as the ironwoods, but still enough to make it a tough call.

I'm sure your ammo savings over a real AK would make up the difference though

(reviews I've seen have been all positive....)

Hmmm, something to consider!

I'm currently brainstorming a new build of a 10/22 along a tactical theme and this might be a one-stop solution for me.

Anybody know how the quality of these?
