Curious about "Gun Girls"

New 'Gun Girl' here,
and to answer your question, I think it will be a WHILLLLEE before I even come close to being a gun nut as half on the other people on here, lol
But I do hope to collect a few and learn as much about them as I can

I can't be sure, but I suspect I'm less of a gun nut than half the active posters on here, and it took me a couple of decades to get to where I am. Enjoy the journey, wherever it leads you. :)

Well my wife can out shoot me with a rifle. Got her beat with pistols. Trying to get my daughter interested as well as my niece. Niece is a go daughter is a no.

To generalise, then, they see guns as a tool to do a job, whether that job is 'competing at a high level' or 'keeping them safe as they go about their daily round' or 'putting meat in the freezer'. Other than that, they are not interested. You don't need to know how an engine works to drive a car. Nor do most of us spend time tinkering with our cars, it's enough that they should work, and keep on working.

Yeah, I'd guess you're right, if you're "generalizing" that is. There are a few exceptions though - just like there are with men, I suppose. My wife bought herself one of those Henry "American Beauty" .22LRs a couple of years ago just because she likes how it looks, and because she liked the advertisement - "Today's woman can be anything she wants to be" and all that.
Nevertheless, my wife asked me to buy her a Ruger "American Rimfire" .22LR for her birthday (I did) because the two of us were shooting a lot of ground squirrels over on a friend's ranch last spring, and she didn't have a .22LR rifle "of her own" to use.;)

The only reason my wife has her CCW is so when I kick the bucket she can maintain my collection and distribute them as I willed them. She'll go shooting with me every once in a while, but for the most part she could care less about gun. Now if we're talking shoes, cloths, hand bags or jewelry, watch out!!!!

There is a gun range here in OK that holds an annual Ladies Shoot.

Several stations with different firearms that the participants rotate through every 45 minutes.
NRA certified instructors, firearms and ammo supplied, lunch provided... covered by the very reasonable entry fee.

It’s a day long event that lets the ladies try different arms, receive proper instruction on the basics and allows them to see what works for them... all in a very pro-woman environment.

It is THEIR day, after all. :)

As one of the volunteers, I got to be one of the very few guys there. It was thrilling to be surrounded by so many pro-gun ladies having a great time excersizing their 2A rights by enjoying the shooting sports. Everywhere I looked there were smiling, laughing people enjoying the fellowship of the day.

Sadly, the event has been cancelled the last couple years because of The Virus.

Dammit.

Well, there’s always next year... ;-)

@ThatPunkGirl welcome to the forum, take your time and enjoy the journey.

Here is a few pics of my grandaughters last range trip, she's 16 in the pics, shooting my m60 Marlin, savage m11 in 223 and my AR 15 5.56. IMG_20191013_180502.jpg IMG_20191013_163123.jpg IMG_20191013_163043.jpg IMG_20200224_184137.jpg
