Just got a “new to me” 3.75” Talo 44 magnum. This is the only bird’s head grip I have ever shot. I like it. I compared it to my 5.5” Bisley and I can’t say I prefer one grip over the other. I really like the compact size of the 44. I did not shoot the Talo quite as well but I am about 100% sure that is because I have not painted the rear of the front sight orange yet. I noticed myself constantly having to re acquire the front sight in the dim light. I shot at 10 yards using warm 38 specials in the Bisley and warm 44 specials in the Talo.

That’s a good looking revolver.
I had a Vaquero .45 Colt Birdshead that I bought in 2005. I didn’t care for the way it felt when shooting it and sold it a few years ago. Right after that I saw that I could have switched out the grip frame with a little work and could’ve kicked myself for selling it. Oh well. Someone got s nice revolver. I doubt I put 200 rounds through it.

I have two stainless Vaqueros and I blacked out the rear sight and took a jewelers file to the rear of the front sight to knock the shine off of it. Maybe that might help yours @wgf

I will be blackening the rear notch and painting the back of the front post orange.
I have not shot magnums with it yet but I don’t think it will hurt, based on how well it fits my hand. I had a 5.5” Super Blackhawk that I just sold, so I know what 44 magnums in a Ruger SA feel like.
