The above Ruger was the 1st of 4 MKIV's I have purchased. It was $309 NIB from my LGS. I now have over 25,000 rds fired without a single non ammo related problem. The only mod that was done to it is the Volquartsen accurizing kit. Everything else is completely bone stock. I have yet to find any ammo that it will not run including the crappest bulk ammo on the market. It's far more accurate then I will ever be. There's no sign of any wear and it runs like the 1st day I purchased it. I'm sure that the next 25,000 rds will end up being the same as the 1st. If you're looking for a 22 caliber handgun that you actually plan to shoot often and shoot a lot of lead downrange I don't believe there is a better value available. Flawless operation, extremely accurate, as reliable as the sunrise and just plane fun to shoot.

Good to hear. My MKIII 22/45 was absolutely flawless for 15K rounds despite a broken firing pin rebound spring. It’s been giving me fits lately with misfires, hangfires, and SQUIBS. I’ve put a new upper on it but it’s still not 100%. I’ve changed mainsprings, rebound springs, firing pins 2X, and bolts. Still not 100%. still awesome fun though.

I have a mk4 target stainless and it so pretty! but it needs a trigger job! lol

and my mk3 22/45, I didn’t clean it, only bore brush it and scrub with I could see with WD-40. I did that for 5 years and it ran fine! until I let it sit for 8 years, forget about it, and it was gunked up and kindda frozed up. Recently learned how to completely strip it and it running like a clock again

I started out with a Mark IV 22/45 Lite and thanks to Volquartsen I added a 5.5 inch and a 10 inch barrel. I also have a Black Mamba that I use for Steel Challenge Matches.

The Black Mamba has well over 80K rounds and is still going strong. It even eats hollow points with no problems.

I put a rifle scope on the 10 inch barrel and had lots of fun this week sighting it in. The range I go to only has 25 yards but this thing is a true tack driver.

I've been finding .22s at a good price lately so I'm pretty much stocked up for now. Hope everyone finds then when needed without paying the inflated prices. Mark IV with 3 barrels.jpg

I bought this Mark III eight years ago. I just wanted an inexpensive .22 for front porch duty. IIRC it cost right at $300. It’s the cheap model with non removable grip panels, the Hogue boot grip makes it right. Juggling optics around the Bushnell TRS25 landed on it. I don’t plink much, I mostly shoot critters roaming in my yard. My best kill to date is a ground hog in the ditch 35 yards from the porch. I like the gun, it has served me well so far. 31-BDB14-B-AD0-D-4862-988-E-39-F2478-D8-BD7.jpg

I have the 10” Mk IV and a second 5.5” upper that makes this two-guns-in-one cool. I also did the Volquartsen trigger/hammer mod to the grip and replaced the extractors in each bolt and added a thumbrest grip.

The MkIV is such an improvement over my other Rugers when it comes to takedown and cleaning.

The .22/45 was such a good idea, creating a reliable and reasonably priced rimfire practice pistol with the big-gun 1911 feel.

Stay safe

Had the MKIV 22/45 5.5" a few years back, regretfully sold it. Recently purchased a new one. Anticipating lots of fun times with it.

Sold my MKIII immediately after shooting my MKIV, no comparison. And the above results are just more confirmation.

Have not gotten a Mk 4 yet. Recently sold my Mk iii that I put thousands of trouble free rounds through. I got an itch so I bought a Buckmark, good gun but not a Ruger Mk series. I sold it and another gun and got a Volquartsen Scorpion (got a scorching good deal on it). I saw a Mark a Mk II Gov Target with 6 7/8 barrel and grabbed it.

So currently have the Scorpion and the Mk II. The Mark II needed some work so I polished the bolt, breach face and firing pin and channel. I added return spring assembly and an exact edge extractor. That took care of the feeding issues but the trigger needed help. I installed the Volquartsen trigger, sear and sear spring. Now it shoots like a dream with a trigger pull under a pound according to my Lyman trigger gauge. The fiber optic front sight I added helps too. Its very accurate.

The Scopion just needed an optic. Currently on my second choice which is a Holosun 403b with 2moa dot. works great.

Don't have an updated pic of my Scorpion but here is a pic of my Mark II hogue grip.

I've always had a "thing" for boxed sets of matching pistols,,,
From Flintlock duelers to modern semi-autos,,,
I just love them.

About 10 years ago I had a windfall of cash fall into my lap,,,
I did a lot of research and looking at new guns,,,
I ended up buying this pair of Ruger 22/45's.

I named them Veritas (Truth) and Equitas (Justice)

Stainless steel, 5.5", slab-sides,,,
I haven't modified these guns at all.

Despite the usual gripe of "hard to clean",,,
I keep them absolutely pristine,,,
They just keep on truckin'.

I can't remember the last time I had a failure of any kind,,,
But I do try and stick with CCI Mini-Mag RNs.

When Ammo was scarce they performed well with Federal 550 bulk pack ammo,,,
As well as just about anything I could find to shoot through them.

I just wanted to add to the general praise of these pistols,,,
Ruger hit a home run with this design.
