It is proof that we have alot of selfish inconsiderate people with no common sense. It is hard to fix it.
One of the county guys here brought up some trash cans to our local range, I was amazed that they last quite a while. Im not sure If he or someone else was emptying them, but for a while the did what they were supposed to and held trash.Guaranteed those 50 gallon drums would be shot to pieces in a week. Morons will be morons.
If that’s the one near the Carson out past the V&T railroad depot and city dump, I’ve shot at that range back in the late 1980’s. For an open, public range it was very nice. Too bad inconsiderate people take it upon themselves to trash places like that .
Stay safe.
Open the landfill, trash dump for shooting?
Oh yeah, I quit going there about 1995-96 when it was still a free for all. I decided it wasn’t a good idea anymore when I drove in and saw a big batch of Bud Light fueled Fontana/Rialto hoodlums shooting pistols and AK type rifles out of their parked cars practicing their drive-by shooting skills.Did you ever go to Lytle Creek?
I used to go there 30+ yrs ago and it wasn't too too bad. Still dumpy but not horrible. I used to go off roading in that area too (off roaders are just as guilty too)
I stopped for abut 5 yrs and went back and it was atrocious. I left after about 10 minutes when ricochets were flying over my head.
They turned it it a monitored range... I heard it was a lot better but/and that LEOs would walk around snooping at peoples stuff on the shooting benches etc.
Sad.
Pack it in and pack it out. Simple.
Same here, back when I was little there was a “transfer station” out a half-mile or so from town. It was a cement pad where you would drop trash and then the loaders would scoop it into trucks for the run to the landfill out in the desert north of town. They didn’t work on Sunday’s, do there was lots of prime targets for the Marlin 39A and Colt Huntsman! Some of my first memories of shooting were of my dad taking me to the local dump to shoot rats with a single shot .22 rifle. This would have been about 60 years ago. No shortage of targets.
I was there from mid 80 until early 2000s; there were idiots that would shoot holes in the roof, shoot the concrete blocks that made up the shooting benches, etc.If that’s the one near the Carson out past the V&T railroad depot and city dump, I’ve shot at that range back in the late 1980’s. But nowadays you have that beautiful Clark County facilityI used to live in Laughlin, NV and had access to a range within walking distance from my home, out in the desert BLM land. Needless to say being relatively new to the area, I went and built a shooting bench out of 2X4's and some 4X4's, and set it up 100 yards from this huge berm that had evidence of being used prior to my discovering the unsupervised range, as a back stop. It (shooting bench) stood unmolested for at least a couple of weeks, and then someone started using it as target practice, for whatever reason is beyond my comprehension. Then probably about a week later used it to make a campfire and burned it completely down. Well, after that I purchased a portable target bench and used that for my remainder of years in that area. The problem with that area as it grew, the range became a dumping grounds for old TV's, washers and dryers, refrigerators, computers etc. to the point of no return. Incidentally I did have a membership in the Tri-State gun club that had trap/skeet pistol and rifle long range, the only problem with that was it turned out to be over a one hour drive. Now here in MO. I've located a fenced range, used mostly by law enforcement and patrolled by the small town Police Dept. to which I got permission to use when unoccupied by LE. Do believe this will be my eternal resting grounds. I do plan on buying 40+ acres of prime hunting area about 30 minutes drive from here as soon as it closes.
Numbskulls are everywhere.I was there from mid 80 until early 2000s; there were idiots that would shoot holes in the roof, shoot the concrete blocks that made up the shooting benches, etc.

That spot (near Rainbow Rd at Washington) is now practically in the center of town, Las Vegas has grown a bit since the 1970’s.
Nope. The city now spreads almost all the way to the park border now.So you can't go shooting out at red rock in the morning then explore "sloth cave" (now gypsum cave) to get out of the afternoon heat anymore?

I'll have to check it out when we make another sojourn out West. Used to also shoot shotgun at the city facility; was on the BOD for many years as well.Yeah, there were some bad years but that’s changed. The range was shut down for over two years and completely rebuilt. It’s a beautiful facility now with Rangemasters always there—and usually armed. They’ve run off the knot heads that ruin things but they aren’t the type to harangue you about rules. Be safe, be neat and all’s well.
