This morning Bass Pro had more ammo on their shelves than I've seen in any store in almost a year. They had a number of brands and a variety of calibers. I was the only one in the ammo aisle a half hour after the store opened. A manager said he believes the situation is beginning to improve now. He said ammo looks to be coming in much more regularly and in greater amounts. He also said the individuals who have been regularly waiting in line prior to the store opening, and buying no matter the price, have pretty much stopped buying ammo. Maybe he's correct.

I agree, its slowly getting better. Went in on a hunch to my local Big 5 sporting goods store yesterday, and was amazed there wasn't a line...in fact, I was the first one in at the opening. I was fortunate enough to get the only box of 380 acp, but it was worth it. Then surprise of surprises, Wal-Mart of all places has ammunition! Hasn't been hardly anything to sneeze at for two years. Today, lots of CCi 22. lr, and some hunting ammo too. Things are looking up.

A 2-box limit per customer, per day…

:scrutiny: at Bass Pro? If so, it can make “flipping” to resell less worthwhile.

This has been the customer limit at Academy supposedly for weeks.

With Academy’s recent higher ammo prices, for me they are not acceptable until the prices decrease a serious fraction.

At this Bass Pro it's a six box limit per caliber if you use the store credit card. Otherwise, it's a two box per caliber limit. What really stood out was the complete lack of customers. It wasn't too long ago that I'd see at least fifty people lined up in front of that store before they opened....morning after morning after morning.

Its good to see pictures like that. These shortages have always ended and I expected this one would too. Eventually. I also noticed that places like Midway have dies in stock that they have been out of for more than a year. Now if they would get some Sierra and Berger bullets!

Locally here in Central Ohio and within a 50 mile radius I've seen at the various LGS more 9mm, 12 and 20 gauge, .308, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 10mm, .45ACP, and the occasional .38spl. Some oddball stuff I've come across - .45 COLT, Federal Hammer Down HP in .357 mag (which my 686 likes just fine), .38spl +P, some .410 for my Governor and a box or two of 6.5 Creedmoor. Prices fluctuate across the board.

I looked up Baas Pro Shop and the closest is 128 miles from me. Checked Walmart on Tuesday when the wife and I did our monthly shopping, not one box of ammo. With the closest Walmart being 40 miles away we only go once a month unless one of us has a DR appointment in the same town.

I predicted that July or August would see the return of ammunition on shelves across most of the country because Remington's production would be added to the production of all other manufacturers and fatigue from panic buying would set in and demand would fall off. Looks like we're clearly on that path...unless something else pushes the panic flywheel.

I hope it’s because they are stuck with it because no one wants to pay their mark up on already ridiculous prices.

Stopped by an Academy the other day and thought they has a lot of stock myself. Looking at what they had the counter fellow asked if I needed anything, I said just looking and it looks like they have a good variety. He confirmed that they did and said they even removed the limit they had in place.

Sad times for the people that want things to stay tight and expensive.
